About disabling IGMP Snooping..
A genuine question: it says in minimserver documentation that disabling IGMP snooping can solve issues.

My question is: disabling where ?

My architecture (only the part focused on multimedia):
I have a main router, ASUS RT-AX68U Pro
To this router is connected a switch Zyxel GS1200-5 to which my TV and my Oppo are connected
To this switch I cascaded a Buffalo BS-GS2008 (BTW almost same HW as Melco switch at 10% the price ;-)
To this Buffalo are connected only my synology and my Linn Klimax

So I can disable IGMP snooping on the Buffalo, on the Zyxel and on the router.

Should I disable everywhere, or only the Buffalo ?

Thx !

RE: About disabling IGMP Snooping..
Until an expert comes along who knows what he or she is talking about, let me suggest..
I thought the initiative for IGMP snooping came from the device that is in charge of setting the addresses in a network, probably your router.
If there is no facility on your router to switch it off, it will either mean it is on all the time or it does not have that feature.

As I said I am not an expert....

RE: About disabling IGMP Snooping..
If everything is working OK for you at present, I suggest you leave your current settings unchanged.

IGMP snooping monitors responses to IGMP query messages for a multicast group. These messages are sent by an IGMP querier. A device that does not respond to IGMP query messages is marked as inactive (or not interested in messages for this multicast group) and will not receive subsequent multicast messages for the multicast group. This filtering could occur at any level in the network.

This mechanism is intended to prevent devices and the network from being flooded by some types of high-volume multicast messages that they don't want to receive (notably IPTV) while allowing these messages to be received by devices that need them. It is not needed for UPnP discovery messages because these are sent in compatively low volumes.
