MinimServer/BubbleUPnP/J River combo doesn't do gapless
I have finally got round to installing MinimServer on my Synology DS412+ NAS after spending the past couple of weeks getting used to it on Windows.

As an initial test, I used BubbleUPnP to stream music from the NAS version of MinimServer to my PC, using J River Media Center as the DLNA renderer. However there was no gapless playback. In contrast, if you simply use JRMC for everything then gapless is not a problem.

No doubt there is a simple explanation for this apparent discrepancy but I must confess to being a little hazy on exactly how gapless playback is achieved. Can anyone shed some light?

Gapless playback is never simple. Sad

Gapless playback is controlled by a protocol interaction between the control point and the renderer. The server is not involved. There are two alternative protocols for gapless playback: Linn DS (OpenHome) and SetNextAVTransportURI (UPnP). As you don't have a Linn DS, the latter protocol would need to be used. Perhaps there is an incompatibility with how BubbleUPnP and JRiver are supporting SetNextAVTransportURI.

Are you using the latest versions of both BubbleUPnP and JRiver?

Yes, both BubbleUPnP and JRiver are at the latest level.

On an unrelated point, I am finding that my music is not being played in the same order as the playlist I can see on BubbleUPnP and many of the tracks are being skipped. Can you guess what I might be doing wrong?

Gapless should work with JRMC and BubbleUPnP unless something broke recently. Gapless support has nothing to do with minimserver.

What version of JRMC and BubbleUPnP are you using ?

The Synology DS412+ is a 2-port device, so you need to download and install the test build that is linked from this thread.

In BubbleUPnP, you have to enable gapless control in Settings -> UPnP Tweaks. Did you do this?

JRMC is at 19.0.32, BubbleUPnP is at 1.7.2.2 and my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is running Android 4.1.2.

Yes, that setting is already turned on.

I have installed that test build and done a stop/start in DSM but it made no difference. I have just tried playing a 17 track work in BubbleUPnP and it jumped to track 12 immediately after completing track 1.

The ohnet.subnet setting was empty both before and after the MinimServer update on the NAS.

This almost sounds like an alphanumeric sorting problem with 12 coming after 1 and before 2. Can you try this with a work were the tracks are numbered 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 to eliminate any possible sorting issue?
