Mosaic (dCS) control point dropping Minimserver
I recently swapped out the D'link Powerline adapter feeding my Bartok for a D'link WiFi extender - no problem except that Mosaic keeps dropping connection to MS running on QNAP. This may happen after minutes or hours so is truly random. This applies whether I run the IOS or Android app. Mosaic will play files on the NAS via JRiver, BubbleuPnP will play MS and MConnect on my iPad will also play MS consistently. So Mosaic to MS is the odd one out. The dCS forum suggests a possible IGMP snooping issue with multicast but this only applies to managed switches and both of mine are unmanaged. I have tried all the suggested fixes turning everything on/off etc. with no success.

RE: Mosaic (dCS) control point dropping Minimserver
IGMP snooping is controlled by the router, not by any switches. An unmanaged switch passes any IGMP messages through unchanged. If IGMP snooping is enabled on the router and an IGMP query or response is not delivered successfully, you can see a dropped connection as you have described. The fix is to disable IGMP snooping in the router if it is enabled by default.
Alternatively, it is possible that the connection is being dropped because a UPnP subscription renewal message is being lost. These messages are exchanged directly between the Bartok (in its role as the UPnP control point) and MinimServer on the QNAP (the UPnP server). If this is what is happening, changing the IGMP snooping setting on the router will not solve the problem. |

I understand the Bartok is continually advertising itself on the network but if a message to the MS server is being lost then surely MConnect would also lose its connection to MS, yet when Mosaic is down it retains the link between Bartok and MS. |

RE: Mosaic (dCS) control point dropping Minimserver
An unmanaged switch passes any IGMP messages through unchanged.
Some unmanaged switches do influence IMGP snooping in my experience. See this thread: https://forum.minimserver.com/showthread.php?tid=2346. The switch involved was a TP-Link: http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?model=TL-SG105. |

RE: Mosaic (dCS) control point dropping Minimserver
Thanks for adding this information. I should have said that an unmanaged switch should pass any IGMP messages through unchanged.
