MinimServer stoped working on my Melco - and is showing an error
Hi Simon
My Melco has just stopped working (playing music) in its normal way after I upgraded SongKong today. I have done some trouble shooting with David Baker and it seems as though there is a problem relating to Minimserver I am using Jplay as the controller and we tried resetting and rebooting that – It seemed to start music playing (on the screen) – but I could get no sound on any system in the house! Going into Minimserver on the Melco at first returned an error and wouldn’t show it on via my browser. We therefore unclicked the Minimserver on the Melco – left it for 2 mins and then re selected it – this time it was possible to access Minimserver through the browser but it showed the error as can be seen on the attached screenshot I am unsure if this is just a gremlin that has appeared or if it is linked to the new installation of SongKong – David has explored all the options we could and without MiniServer running clearly there is no music – This is when he said I needed to contact you!! (sorry it is so close to New Year!!) As a hack I have set the Melco to Twonky and so I can play music but the indexing and search is clearly all over the place – but at least we know everything else is working!! Please let me know if you need further info and I will do my best to supply it though in technical terms I am something of a novice!! Best wishes Mark |

RE: MinimServer stoped working on my Melco - and is showing an error
The screenshot attached to your post does not show any error message. It shows that MinimServer is restarting and scanning your library. While this is happening, MinimServer is not visible to your control point app.
You have also sent me a screenshot offline which shows an error message "Unknown tag 'Conductor' in upnpCustom roleTags." This roleTags setting is related to your use of JPLAY as the control point app. Did you add this upnpCustom setting manually or did JPLAY somehow add it automatically? This upnpCustom setting requires the tag name Conductor to be included in either your indexTags or itemTags property settings. To see these settings, select the Properties tab from the MinimServer configuration page. What do you see in the indexTags and itemTags fields? |

RE: MinimServer stoped working on my Melco - and is showing an error
Hi Simon
Sorry about the wrong attachment I have been using Jplay for more than 6 months and have not knowingly used it any differently this time I have not made any manual changes either - just got to tthe point of interrogating MinimServer by a process of elimination Do you need me to set the Melco back to Minimiserver and then lok at MinimServer from my laptop? RE: MinimServer stoped working on my Melco - and is showing an error
Thanks for this information.
For me to provide a solution for this problem you will need to set the Melco back to MinimServer and open the MinimServer configuration web page using your laptop to obtain the diagnostic information that I need. |

Hi Simon
I am back in MinimServer but I am not sure which 'Diagnostic information" you need can you tell me which set of tabs it might be under? I have found this which may help? Is here a way of submitting a diagnostic? Thanks. M (30-12-2023 19:13)simoncn Wrote: Thanks for this information. |

RE: MinimServer stoped working on my Melco - and is showing an error
Thanks for this. The "diagnostic information" was the information I asked for in post #2.
The profile you have posted shows me most of what I need to see. From this it is clear why you are getting the error message. It is not clear what has changed the settings in your default profile to cause this error. You should be able to get MinimServer working by selecting the Properties tab and setting the itemTags property to the following: Conductor, Soloists, Orchestra, Ensemble, Choir After you have done this, click the Save button followed by the Restart button. It will take a few minutes for MinimServer to restart and become visible in JPLAY. If things are not working as you expect after doing this, please post back here. |
