Multiple GENRE tags
I've been using Minimserver for quite a while now and have no plans of going back to Twonky.
I have one problem though that I can not solve. When tagging classical music I would like to have multiple GENRE tags, for example one "Classical" and one "Renaissance", for a record. Minimserver will of course handle this, but since I need to make my music library available for other servers as well (Sonos, Twonky and Squeezeserver) who will not handle multiple GENRE values this is not a solution. In Minimserver 0.52 this could be solved by adding a STYLE tag. For a track the GENRE could be "Classical" and the STYLE tag "Renaissance". I then just added @STYLE=Renaissance +GENRE=Renaissance to the tag update file and the problem was solved. I, using Minimserver, got nice tagging without breaking anything for the other users of the same library. In the later versions of Minimserver, this approach no longer works, and I can not find any other way of doing this. The problem seems to be the first line in the tag update file, "@STYLE=Renaissance" is not recognized and therefore the GENRE tag is never updated. @COMPOSER=Johannes Ockeghem +GENRE=Renaissance works perfectly, so I guess it must be the STYLE tag that is causing the problem. But why? |

It seems we also share a similar taste in music. ![]() What type of files (e.g., MP3, ALAC, MP4, AIFF, FLAC) have you tagged with STYLE? Which tagging program did you use to do this? |

RE: Multiple GENRE tags
TagUpdate is great! The files are ripped with COMPOSER tag, and i use tagUpdate to set COMPOSERSORT. Quite a lot of work, but less than editing all files with mp3tag. I only use the COMPOSER tag for classical music though.
All the files are FLAC. The files are ripped with various programs, but most of them with dbPoweramp. Most of the files where I use STYLE tag are edited with mp3tag. |

In 0.52, all tags were read from the file and available for use in tagUpdates. In recent versions, only tags in itemTags or indexTags are read from the file. This improves efficiency for files that contain unused tags with very large values. |

RE: Multiple GENRE tags
If I add "Style" in indexTags or itemTags field i get the following crash. It can be repeated, and when I remove Style it works again:
starting MinimServer@QNAP269L Platform default charset is UTF-8 Warning: problem reading input cache file FLAC-2.mcache: java.io.IOException: input cache file format error 7 at offset 24372 Minimserver 0.72 running on Qnap TS-269L 4.0.2. |

This should be located in the /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/MinimServer/data directory on the QNAP. Are you comfortable using SSH or WinSCP to copy this file from the QNAP? If you are able to do this, please zip the file and attach it to a forum post here. If you need more detailed information on how to find and copy this file, please send me a PM. This warning message indicates that something is wrong, but it isn't a fatal crash. MinimServer will continue to scan your files without using the input cache, and everything should work OK. |
