RE: Index Artwork
The problem with images in the Artist subfolder not appearing in the Artist index is fixed now in MinimServer update 231.

RE: Index Artwork
Hello,

two issues with the new version (running on Melco N100, firmware 4.32 / Control point Bubble / latest version)):

1.) Latest update 231 is not found and installed, neither by restart nor by MiniWatch / Show Updates
=> found solutions with MiniWatch / Properties / Packages ... 231 was shown on Available packages and installed ... but issue 2.) still present.

2.) Changes with the artworks (indexArtwork) are not found and shown:
-> deleted old images, copied new images, but Bubble still showing the old ones, which are no longer available in the folder (indexArtwork).
Copied new images using the "old" file names:
<[Ordneransicht].jpg>
<Alben.jpg>
<AlbumArtist.jpg>
<Kürzlich gespielt.jpg>
<Kürzlich hinzugefügt.jpg>
<Titel.jpg>

Thanks a lot and merry Christmas! :-)

Kind regards
Norbert

RE: Index Artwork
Please check your .autoUpdate property setting. If this is set to true and you are running MinimServer 2.2, update 231 should be installed automatically when you stop and restart MinimServer from the Melco front panel or by powering the Melco off and on. Restarting from MinimWatch does not install automatic updates.

Did you do a MinimServer rescan and reload the MinimServer library into BubnbleUPnP after making the artwork chages?

1.) autoUpate property is set to 'true'.
Thanks a lot for the hint that restarting from MiniWatch does not install updates, I was not aware of that.Idea

2.) simple reload / rescan did not work (3 dots on the left top)
Just did a deep check into Bubble:
-> Mediatek setting, delete local preview did work
Now I see the new images Heart

Great support and now enjoy Christmas!!!

Kind regards

I am sorry, I was a bit overenthusiastic.
If indexed Artist and AlbumArtist, artwork shows up in both.
If All Artists is indexed no artwork is shown.(in All Artist)
When I select (All Artist) e.g. Al Di Meola this leads me to 2 albums where Al Di Meola is tagged as artist. (Consequence of Chaos-Al Di Meola (solo) and Friday Night in San Francisco-Al Di Meola(with 2 other artists)
When doing the same using Artist or AlbumArtist this choice only leads to one album. I would expect also the other album should be shown.

RE: Index Artwork
Thansk for letting me know about this. I have made some more changes that should make artwork images work as intended for the AlbumArtist, All Artists and Artist indexes. With these changes, the following rules apply.

1) Images in the AlbumArtist folder are shown in the AlbumArtist index. (The AlbumArtist index shows all AlbumArtist tags in the library.)
2) Images in the Artist folder are shown in the All Artists index. (The All Artists index shows all Artist tags in the library.)
3) For each entry in the Artist index, the image shown is from the AlbumArtist folder if present there and from the Artist folder otherwise. (The Artist index shows the AlbumArtist tag value for files in albums with an AlbumArtist tag and Artist tag values for all other files.)
4) There is no All Artists folder, just AlbumArtist and Artist folders.

These changes will be in the next MinimServer update, When this update is available, I will post back here.

Regarding the indexing of Al Di Meola, the All Artists index is correctly showing all albums with an Artist tag for Al Di Meola. The AlbumArtist index should only show albums where the AlbumArtist tag is Al Di Meola. The Artist index should only show albums that match one of the following:

a) the AlbumArtist tag is Al Di Meola
b) the Artist tags include Al Di Meola and there is no AlbumArtist tag

RE: Index Artwork
Hi @simoncn,

I hope you're enjoying your festive break.

I've fallen a bit behind on my artist artwork and I've come across a couple of situations where I'd like further clarification if that's ok (because I'm not sure if they're by-design).

The first is a simple one; should I be seeing disc[subtitle] artwork in my AlbumArtist index (using indexArtwork=all)? I guess the user guide could be open to interpretation in that it states:
Quote:For example, the Artist index entry for Pink Floyd will show an album cover from one of the Pink Floyd albums in your library
I wouldn't call the discsubtitle cover an album cover, but I suppose it is one of the albums covers :-)
Normally it's not obvious, but for George Michaels Ladies & Gentlemen the disc covers (when reduced by the control point) just look like solid blocks of colour.
https://www.discogs.com/master/98699-Geo...g2MzEyOA==
https://www.discogs.com/master/98699-Geo...g2MzYzMA==

My second query is just about how an image is chosen (this very well could be due to my configuration as it's fairly bespoke).
The user guide states "As far as possible, the search for an image follows the order in which the albums or items in the selection for the index entry are presented to the user.", but most of the time I'm not seeing it in this order when I'm looking at the Album Artist index.

My relevant config is:
Code:
aliasTags: Date:ReleaseDate,Album:inAlbum,ALBUMUNIQID:Album
indexTags: AlbumArtistSort:Album Artist
tagOptions: Album.sortTags={AlbumArtistSort,DateExcldngCmpltns,inAlbum,ReleaseDate}
serverOptions: indexArtwork=all
tagFormat: AlbumArtistSort.displayFormat={$AlbumArtist}, Album.displayFormat={$DateExcldngCmpltns^^ - ^$inAlbum^^^$boxtitle^ (from the boxset '^')^$release^ (^)^$albumsupp^ (^)^}

ALBUMUNIQID is an ID that uniquely identifies the album so I don't need to put superflous information into the album field in order to group them correctly e.g. Fleetwood Mac have 2 Greatest Hits albums.
I thought initially that it would be using this to pick the artwork, but that doesn't hold true.

DateExcldngCmpltns is a tag I build using tagUpdate, which is the same as DATE except it's empty for compilation albums as I want these sorted by album name.

I assume displayFormat's have no effect on the presentation of the artwork, but it would make sense to think it's dependent on the sortTags. My assumption is that it only looks at the first tag defined (and then random after that), as if it did take into account the second (DateExcldngCmpltns) it would work correctly in nearly all circumstances, apart from for Various Artists (for which the second tag is empty) where it would need to take into account the third.

I'm sure the second is down to the complexity of my configuration, but just thought I'd check.

Thanks again.

RE: Index Artwork
The selection of auto index art for AlbumArtist index entries is based on items in the index selection, not albums. This means the artwork search order is the search order described for audio files in this section, so a disc image would be used in preference to an album image.

Similarly, the artwork selection order for AlbumArtist index entries is based on items.sortTags, not Album.sortTags. It should be similar to the order that the user would see in the 'n items' list.

The code for choosing an automatic image for an artist or album artist needs to be simple and efficient because it is run for all entries in an Artist or AlbumArtist container when the user selects Artist or AlbumArtist. For example, clicking on Artist for an artist container that contains 1000 artists runs this code 1000 times before showing anything to the user. MinimServer works internally on lists of items and this is why an item-based approach is used. This is the reason for the "as far as possible" disclaimer in the User guide description.
