Question about the licence model and browsing through music

I'd follow the same debug process we used before: select the Artist, find the file information from the 'Show Metadata' BubbleUPnP option and go and have a look at its tags, maybe it's 'Radio Plays' or something. It also has to match the whole field so it's worth using the writeAllTags (maybe point the content directory to a folder with just that file in it) option to make sure it's 'Radio Play' without any additional spaces or other genres appended to it.

The tags are right.
And the filter works in "Audio Type Filter".
This time the files has an album name and a tracknumber too.
Are other tags needed too for this?

If a file isn't part of an album and has an AlbumArtist tag, the AlbumArtist value appears in the AlbumArtist index but is ignored everywhere else.

Having or not having a track number doesn't make any difference.

If you prefer to have a meaningful value for the album tag instead of Missing Album (for example, the item title), you could set Album.default={Title}.

I don't know what the absolute minimum required tags are, but I always have:
AlbumArtist or Artist
Album
DiscNumber
TrackNumber
Title
Date

ALBUM (except at the few Compilations that were mentioned earlier)
ARTIST
DISCNUMBER [n/n]
GENRE
TITLE (except at the few Compilations that were mentioned earlier)
TRACK [nn/nn]
YEAR

The radio plays and the other categories mentioned also have all these tags.
But are still listed in "Artists".

In my mind you were saying that some (non-Music) Artists were showing up under the Music category.

Ok, so basically you're seeing Track Artists in the correct category, but don't want to?
With compilations, the only reason you weren't seeing track artists is because you were seeing their AlbumArtist (Various Artists), do these also have AlbumArtist tags populated?

EDIT: Or to make that more clear, MinimServer was "seeing" 'Various Artists' and because there was only one value for that category filter it didn't even display the Artist index (intelligent browsing).

I think I understand. So it looks like we can't hide them. Instead I could only 'group' them with an ALBUMARTIS like 'Radio Play'. Am i right here?

Curently that tracks don't have an Album Artist. Just an Artist.

If none of your Radio Play "albums" have an AlbumArtist then you can set one in the tagUpdate.txt like:

Code:

@GENRE=Radio Play
+AUDIOTYPE=Radio Play
+ALBUM ARTIST=Any Artist Value Here

This will set a default one, and should remove the Artist index after having selected 'Radio Play' from the Audio Type Filter.

This does mean you'll never see any Tracks Artists in the parent Artist index (before selecting a filter) just like you don't for Compilations (which you only see 'Various Artists' for).

This is definitely going in the right direction.
I almost thought it was perfect.
But then I noticed that I can no longer sort by tag artist within "Radio Play".

Is there a solution for this?
