how can i display Chinese music folder and name correctly on Windows? i set the server option to language=zh-Hant in advance properties, still, chinese display with ??? question marks.

What software do you use to view your MinimServer library from Windows? Are you doing this using Windows Explorer and Windows Media Player or do you use some other UPnP control point app? It would be helpful if you could post a screenshot showing the incorrect display.

Also, what device are you using to run MinimServer? Is this running on a Windows PC or on a NAS?

I run Lumin on iphone, I tried Roon and VLC, same issue when access MinimServer. Chinese characters display fine on Windows explorer. Installed the latest Minmserver on Dell Windows pc.

Thanks for this information. I think the problem is likely to be caused by the character set that was used to encode your audio file tags. For UPnP, all tags should be encoded as UTF-8. Your files might be tagged using a different character set, possibly Windows-936. MinimServer serves the tag data exactly as it appears in your files and doesn't attempt to convert from one character set to another.

This would explain why the characters display correctly on Windows, because your Windows system is using the same character set as the tag data in your files. The LUMIN app and other iPhone apps are expecting UTF-8 characters and don't understand anything else.

Hi, any way/solution to convert files to utf-8 format for that? i store all my file in NTFS

I haven't had this issue and I don't have a solution. From a quick web search, it appears the Mp3tag tagging program has some capability to convert tag values to a different character set (see this thread).
