RE: FLAC Files with the "≫" Character in File Name Won't Play
Hi again, Simon. One other potentially relevant datapoint occurred to me after reading your post #49:

Back on December 10, 2020, I powered up the Melco and was startled to see an error message stating, "Usable internal drive not found. (Error 111)"

The Melco gave me the option to "Try repair of disk. (Continue? (It may not be able to be repaired.)"

I accepted the "repair" option.

A message appeared on the Melco screen stating:

"Try repair of unrecognised drive
Please wait..."

Next, a message appeared on the Melco screen after a while stating, "Finished."

At that point, I tried playing some random music files in the "share" folder and everything seemed fine.

I have not had any scares like this since December 10th.

Do you think this "repair" may be related to the missing music files with the "≫" character in the file name?

Thanks.

It sounds like the repair was successful and this is not related to the other issue.

RE: FLAC Files with the "≫" Character in File Name Won't Play
Hi Simon. I rolled the Melco firmware back from v3.92 to v3.91. Doing so caused the Melco to revert from MinimServer 2 to Twonky. The music files that were invisible in v3.92/MS-2 remain invisible in v3.91/Twonky. I am awaiting direction from Melco Tech Support as to possible next steps. Thanks.

Sorry to hear that this didn't help. Something is wrong with the way these filenames are encoded but I haven't been able to work out what it is.

Thanks, Simon. Is it an easy matter to switch between Twonky and MiminServer 2 while Melco FW v3.91 is installed? If so, I would like to switch back to MinimServer 2, as I am missing the improved sound quality and file-searching capabilities. Thanks.

You cannot install MinimServer 2 on the 3.91 firmware. As downgrading to 3.91 didn't solve the problem with your files, you could move up to 3.92 again and install MinimServer 2.

I have another idea about how to find the cause of the problem you are having. I will send you a PM.
