32 bit x86 Linux install problem
I've repurposed an older 32 bit x86 machine with Ubuntu as an operating system. My first task has been to try to install MinimServer. I have followed the instructions on the install page for a desktop integration installation, and it seemed to proceed as per the instructions. My problem is that when I click the Minimserver icon, it shows in the taskbar for about 20 seconds and then goes away with no other activity on the screen.
One possible clue is that when I look at the Java version. I see this: openjdk version "1.8.0_131" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_131-8u131-b11-2ubuntu1.16.04.3-b11) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.131-b11, mixed mode) Is the reference to 64 bit a problem, and if so, how to I correct it? If that isn't a problem, can you give me a clue on what I'm doing wrong? Dave |

RE: 32 bit x86 Linux install problem
What do you see in the minimserver.log file?

RE: 32 bit x86 Linux install problem
Here is what it says:
MinimServer 0.8.4, Copyright © 2012-2016 Simon Nash. All rights reserved. OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_131-8u131-b11-2ubuntu1.16.04.3-b11) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.131-b11, mixed mode) Platform default charset is UTF-8 autoUpdate: installed package 'minimserver-0.8-update-101' autoUpdate: relaunching runtime Module ohnet(linux-x86)-1.10.2315.zip is incompatible with Java platform Removing incompatible package 'minimserver-0.8-update-101' Relaunching... and then it repeats this same message many times Dave |

RE: 32 bit x86 Linux install problem
You have installed 32-bit MinimServer together with 64-bit Java. To fix this, uninstall MinimServer and install the MinimServer Linux Intel x64 download.

RE: 32 bit x86 Linux install problem
The x86 machine is 32 bit. Doesn't that mean I need the 32 bit MinimServer?

As you are able to run 64-bit Java, your machine is presumably capable of 64-bit operation. You could avoid this issue altogether by installing the Linux Intel 0.8.4.7 download from this page. Although the 0.8.4.7 builds are advertised as being suitable for Java 9, they also work with Java 8. |
