transcoding problems
Hi Simon,

I have used minimserver(on Qnap) with my Linn RDS.
But transcoding on some flac files does not works. I have tried both wav/wav24. When I have switched on transcoding, Linn just can't play these files. Without transcoding it works without any issues.

If you want, I can send you some of the files to check.

BR,
Darius

Thanks for sending the file. It is encoded using variable blocksize, which isn't supported by the jFLAC decoder (used by MinimServer). Which FLAC encoder was used to create this file?

Hi Simon,

I'm not sure(I will check at home). It is better to know which encoder I should use to don't have such a problems with transcoding?

I think nearly all the FLAC encoders use fixed blocksize. For example, dbPoweramp should be OK.

I'd like to know which encoder causes this problem so that I can warn others about the issue. Many thanks!

Hi Simon,

Usually I play with CUEtools, but it can be that I downloaded some files from the net.

Thanks for this information. I think the Flake encoder in CUEtools can encode FLAC using variable blocksize. I'll do some further investigation to confirm this.
