Minimserver and Windows 10 missing files
Hi
Does Minimserver work with Windows 10 ? My installation appears to work in every respect except my control points (BubbleUPnP and MediaHousePro) can't find MP3 files in the content directory. They find all folders and sub-folders but no mp3 or m3u content. |

RE: Minimserver and Windows 10 missing files
MinimServer does work with Windows 10 and all other versions from Windows XP onwards.
Are the control points able to see other files (not MP3) in the folders? Are there any messages in the MinimServer log about problems reading the MP3 files? |

Please do the following: 1) From the minim icon, select 'Show log' 2) In the log window, set the logging level to Debug 3) Leave the log window open 4) From the minim icon, select Rescan 5) In the log window, select 'Save as' to save a log file 6) Zip the log file (this step is important) and attach the zipped file to a post here I will look at the log file and let you know what I find. |

RE: Minimserver and Windows 10 missing files
Thanks for this. Everything looks fine and all your files and albums have been scanned and added to the library.
Can you see the albums and play the files by selecting these albums? Where are you seeing folders that don't contain any files? Can you post a screenshot? |

I can see and play the mp3 files using Groove on the PC itself. My control points (MediaHousePro and BubbleUPnP) both allow me to navigate down to an album folder (in folder & artist & other views) but all I get at that point is the "I'm doing something" circle. No mp3 tracks ever appear. Nothing to see which would help. The computer on which I am attempting to run minimserver+minimstreamer is a Cyclone Windows Mini PC 2 running Windows 10 (pre-loaded). The music content is loaded on a 128GB Sandisk USB3 (USB2 compatible) drive. This is an identical drive to the one I use with a Raspberry Pi3 (discussed in a different post) and which has an identical directory structure and content. The RPi3 system works perfectly, including the display of album artwork. I have just copied the media content from the USB drive to a 128GB SD card on the same computer (clutching at straws !) and set the new content directory in minimserver properties window. My two control points now see the mp3 files and allow me to play them - no idea why this should be. The artwork does not appear as it does on the RPi3 system though. Any ideas on this ? |

RE: Minimserver and Windows 10 missing files
This feels like a hardware, resource or network issue. There is no reason I can think of why MinimServer should work with the library on an SD card but not a USB drive. Perhaps the Mini PC has an issue with its USB adapters or drivers.
Artwork is downloaded by the control point in response to an HTTP request from the control point to the server. For some reason, this download isn't working. This is probably related to the same issue that prevents the library on the USB card from working. In summary, this appears to be a hardware or software issue with the Mini PC and not related to MinimServer. |
