Content not playing in order or as whole record
I am very confused about how I should expect this software to run. I am using an OPPO with a Synology NAS and updated the Content Directory with my music folder. However, the results were less than desirable.

First of all, my records do not play in order as I expected...each time the next song plays, it goes back tot he home screen then calls the track #1 when it may be #5 or 6 (etc). I cannot skip ahead songs as well.

It also doesn't seem to play songs in order. Some records I own are numbered with a prefix 01,02,03. etc....some are tagged (FLAC and DSD).

How much research must I do to get this to work correctly? I've done quite a bit to get this far but frankly didn't expect it to be this hard. I am very capable to figuring things out but value my personal time too! lol

While I don't know your particular hardware, it sounds as though the track number tags are incorrectly set in your music files.

It is important to remember that, other than for the purpose of retrieving files, music streaming software based on the UPnP protocol and its derivatives does not use file names; it uses tags. So the track order of an album is based on the track number tags. Likewise (certainly for MinimServer) what constitutes an Album is determined by the value of the Album tag in each file, and not by the Album folder name.

I suggest that you take one of your problem albums, and put it in its own folder in the music library (if it isn't in one already). Then use a tag editor to check that all the tracks have the same Album tag, and that the track tags are correctly numbered sequentially. Then have MinimServer do a rescan. If that doesn't work, please come back and describe exactly how the system misbehaved with that album.

I will try this but if it solves the issue then I essentially will have a LOT of work on my hands.

What tag editor do you recommend?

This is something that any decent CD ripper should get right. What are you using to rip your CDs, or are the problem albums downloads, which can be a bit more variable?

If tagging proves not to be the issue, then there might be an issue with your control point. Which control point are you using?

For Windows, MP3Tag (it handles all formats) - way ahead of the competition, and basically free. For Mac (and based on the recommendations of others as I don't use Macs), Metadatics; it has a $10 cost but is a single purpose tool and so is less complex to use than the obvious (and free) alternative, XLD. For Linux, MP3Tag on Wine (if you can get it to work, which I never have), or PuddleTag.

RE: Content not playing in order or as whole record
I have noticed that some of my albums weren't being played in the normal order. I checked in MP3 tag and all the tracks were numbered with the "track" label but using Kazoo, an openhome control point, they were appearing in the wrong order and the "track" number seemed to be being ignored. I added the tag "Tracknumber" and auto numbered the tags in the album order and then each track appeared with the track number added in front of the title in Kazoo, and in the right order.

This sounds similar to your experiences.

Streaming from a Synology 1511+ to a Cyrus Stream XP2 QX, 2x Roberts 93i, A Revo Superconnect, a Mede8er 600 3D and a few Squeezeboxes thrown in!
