RE: Melco Audiophile NAS
Hello Simon,
I just got a Melco N1A. Could you please PM me the instructions for installing MinimServer because I'm already having issues with the Twonky server. Many thanks! Kind regards, Stephan |

RE: Melco Audiophile NAS
Hi Simon,
I have the N1A now connected to the PS Audio DSD Bridge II via ethernet and the sound is incredible! However, I can't stream a DSD signal to the Bridge, it is DoP compatible, but I can't stream DoP via the ethernet on the Melco. I was told this is a Twonky issue and Minimserver can offer that option. True? Can you send me the minimserver install as well? Also, regarding different HDDs, are there any boot or operating programs residing on the drives I need to copy, or can I just swap them out? Mihaylov, thanks, I tried the Lumin app but it does not recognize my ethernet renderer (PS Audio Bridge II). I've been using the mconnect app which seems stable. |

Thanks for the heads up. |

RE: Melco Audiophile NAS
Has anyone managed to install MinimServer and get the Melco to work via direct connection? Without a network I can't seem to get an app working to navigate the Music Library.
Can I get the Melco to playback directly to streamer avoiding networking, does MinimServer allow me to do this? I tried the LAN from Melco to network and direct cat6 into streamer, Linksy found the library ok but would play the files directly. In network config I have zero issues its just getting direct to work with a better way of accessing the Music Library. In direct mode the library is seen on the streamer and can only be controlled via its own front panel, which take an age. Thanks. |

The good news that you don't need to worry about this if you set things up correctly. The important setting is to use a static IP address on the Melco instead of DHCP. WIth this setting, there is no network traffic between the Melco and the switch while music is playing from the Melco HDD and the control point is not being used. |

Thanks Simon, Been reading a lot online on the control point looks like I can run a switch to join the Melco Direct and Streamer, this works fine (but adds a switch). Then add into the same switch laptop via Cat6 and use that to play the files via laptop app/library software. Will test this bit next. |

As the AFR (Annual Failure Rate) of HD is not zero, the probability you loose data is not zero as well... I had a look at the N1A user's guide, they don't mention how you can replace HD. I feel safer (maybe wrongly ?) with my Synology in RAID mode... |
