Minimstreamer installed, not found on NAS
Hello,

Previously I was able to install Minimstreamer on my DS415play, but it disappeared. I tried again to install via Minimwatch (icon is green, menu intact) and MinimStreamer 0.5.21 is listed under Installed Packages. However, Minimstreamer does not appear on the NAS. When it did work, I had the choice between "Minimstreamer" and "Music Server." Now my only choice is "Music Server." How can I diagnose this problem?

Thank you.

Are you still able to see MinimServer (green minim icon) in MinimWatch? If so, what do you see when you select 'Show log' from the minim icon?

Yes, the Minimwatch icon in the notification tray still is green. Here is the content of the log:

This is the output from "Options > Show log (watch)" and it looks OK. What output do you get from "Show log"?

RE: Minimstreamer installed, not found on NAS
I am not sure why you changed the logging level to Trace. I was hoping to see the startup log output with the logging level set to the default value of Info. It will be hard to get back to this state now, so I would like to try a different approach to finding out what is wrong.

As MinimServer is producing trace log output, it must be running OK on the NAS. What exactly is the problem with not being able to see MinimServer on the NAS? If you open the Package Center, is there an entry for MinimServer in the list of installed packages?

Yes, MinimServer is listed among the installed packages and says that it is running.

My observation previously was that when I opened Audio Station and Selected Media Server, I could select MinimServer, and to play a file, I could choose between Minimstreamer and MusicServer. I chose Minimstreamer, and MinimServer indicated that the file was being played by MinimServer [Minimstreamer].

A few days later, when I went to play a file and chose Minimserver, but then the display for streaming had changed to MinimServer [MusicServer], and I was not given a choice for a streaming vehicle. Thus I assumed that Minimstreamer was not running.

In reinstalled Minimwatch to see if I could get Show log back to its original setting. I don't think that worked. I did a rescan and found a few "errors" in my music files. Here are the contents of Show Log after reinstallation and rescan:

I think I know what has happened. The default name that MinimServer displays to UPnP control points is MinimServer[xxxx] where xxxx is the hostname of the machine where MinimServer is running. From what you say, it seems you have changed the hostname of your Synology NAS from MinimStreamer to MusicServer and this is why Audio Station is now displaying a different name for MinimServer.

If you want to change this default display name to something else, you can open the Properties window by selecting Properties from the minim icon, then change the displayName property to whatever name you prefer. After you have made this change, the hostname of your NAS will no longer affect the name that MinimServer displays in Audio Station.

To confirm that MinimStreamer is installed and running, you can select About from the minim icon.

The logging level for MinimServer is part of your MinimServer configuration and reinstalling MinimWatch or MinimServer won't change it. From the latest output, it appears you have now set the logging level to Verbose, which is OK.

Thank you, Simon, Minimwatch confirms that Minimstreamer is running, but I am still a little confused.

I did not change the hostname of my Synology NAS from MinimStreamer to MusicServer. When I set up the NAS, the host name was established as MusicServer, and it remains thus.

When I open the main menu in Audio Station, I select Media Server, which yields the following choices:

MinimServer[MusicServer]
MusicServer
PlayOn: Media_Center

Thanks again for your assistance.

In that case, I think it is likely that the UPnP display name has always been MinimServer[MusicServer].

By selecting the first item in the list, you will get MinimServer and you will also get MinimStreamer if this is installed and running.
