RE: Minimwatch can't find Minimserver
Yes, UPnP is switched on, but what they call the UPnP Portmap Table is empty and refreshing the table makes no difference.
The other settings on that page are as follows. Advertisement Period = 30mins Advertisement Time to Live = 4 hops David |

Have you tried running MinimWatch on your laptop (with a wired connection)? Does this find MinimServer? Can you install Linn Kinsky on your PC or your laptop (with a wired connection) and check whether this is able to find MinimServer? |

RE: Minimwatch can't find Minimserver
Kinsky is already installed on my main PC, though I can't remember that last time I used it. I've just opened it now and immediately got the following Network Configuration Error message.
A problem occurred with the configured network adapter (Local Area Connection 4). Would you like to select a different network adapter now? YES NO My only current network is called Network 3, so I took the YES option above and then went to Tools/Options/Network in Kinsky and selected the only available option (which was actually labelled as Local Area Connection). I was then able to browse my MinimServer library in Kinsky without any problem. However, the MinimWatch icon is still grey and I still can't see MinimServer via BubbleUPnP on my phone. If I get time tomorrow, I'll install MinimWatch on a laptop with a wired network connection. David |

The prompt to change network adapters (as well as your success after doing this) suggests that MinimWatch is liistening on the wrong network adapter. This could happen if the PC has more than one network adapter (real or virtual) on the same subnet. The other possibility is a firewall issue that is blocking MinimWatch but not Kinsky. Please run the following command from a Windows command prompt and post the results here: ipconfig /all |

RE: Minimwatch can't find Minimserver
I was unsure about whether there were any security implications associated with posting my ipconfig result in a public forum, so I've sent it to you via a PM.

Thanks for this. It eliminates the possibility of a second network adapter causing the problem. I think the problem must be related to the firewall. If you look under the firewall advanced configuration for the rules for inbound connections, is there anything there blocking Java? Do you have an antivirus program running in addition to the Windows firewall? |

RE: Minimwatch can't find Minimserver
I'm using the free version of AVG as my antivirus software, but this has never previously caused me any problems.
My Windows Firewall has 18 inbound rules named Java Platform SE Binary. The following 6 of them are flagged with a red no-entry symbol and this looks more likely to be the source of my current issues with MinimWatch (in contrast, I can see quite a few firewall entries for Kinsky and they all have a green tick). Profile Enabled Action Override Program Protocol Public Yes Block No C:\program files\java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe UDP Public Yes Block No C:\program files\java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe TCP Public Yes Block No G:\program files\java\jrel.8.0_25\bin\javaw.exe UDP Public Yes Block No G:\program files\java\jrel.8.0_25\bin\javaw.exe TCP Private Yes Block No C:\program files (x86)\java\jrel6\bin\java.exe UDP Private Yes Block No C:\program files (x86)\java\jrel6\bin\java.exe TCP |

Your local network type might have changed from Private to Public when you changed the router. If so, this would trigger the first four entries and cause the problem you are seeing. Perhaps when you tested disabling the firewall, you didn't disable it completely but only disabled it for private networks. If so, the blocking Public rules would still have been in effect. I am familiar with this situation because exactly the same happened to me once. ![]() The setting to change the network type isn't immediately obvious. I recall that it took a bit of digging to find out how to do this. I will look into this later today and let you know what I find. |

RE: Minimwatch can't find Minimserver
In Network and Sharing Center, under "View your active networks", you should see your local network. The type (in blue, clickable) should be "Home network". If the type is "Public network", click it and change it to "Home network".

RE: Minimwatch can't find Minimserver
Changing it to a 'Home network' and restarting MinimWatch has done the job. The MinimWatch icon has returned to its familiar bright green colour and BubbleUPnP on my phone can once again see MinimServer.
Thanks for all your help on this. It is much appreciated. David |
