It is already supported using MinimStreamer and an external converter (ffmpeg or avconv).

Thanks so much for putting me to the right direction!! I noticed that minimstreamer can now support sample rate change during the transcoding process. Does anyone know which program is used for the SRC? Would it be SOX?

You can use either ffmpeg or avconv. Is there any advantage in doing this with SoX?

It looks like the same result can be achieved with ffmpeg if libsoxr is used (see this page). What platform are you using to run MinimServer and MinimStreamer?

The next MinimStreamer update will provide an option for you to select libsoxr (if it is installed) as the ffmpeg resampler. There shouldn't be any problem with installing libsoxr on Arch Linux.

That's great news... one valuable use case for resampling is when playing a playlist with mixed sample rates; this avoids delays/clicks when switching sample rates between tracks.

Are you also going to include Sox options, like quality and filter type?

You will be able to specify any additional ffmpeg output options that you want. This can include custom options for libsoxr.
