Music Library File - Excel or PDF
I don't know if this is even possbile but thought I'd ask. Could there be a way to make a library inventory list? It would be great if Minimserver could do it the whole way but even if it could make the list that I could bring into Excel would be nice. I really like to have a current music list that I can store and update as needed.

You could send a UPnP Search command to dump the complete library contents in XML form. See this post for more information.

Thanks but honestly that stuff means nothing to me. I just don't understand it.

Thanks for trying though.

I understand that this approach would be too technical for most people.

I mentioned it because someone with XML and UPnP programming skills could implement what you are suggesting as an add-on to MinimServer, without the need to build this into MinimServer itself. Perhaps that someone is reading (or will read) this thread. Smile

We can only hope.

RE: Music Library File - Excel or PDF
I use MediaMonkey to rip and tag my music. I can run a report from this of most tag entries and send this to a file. I then load this into Excel and use pivot tables to manipulate it any which way I want.

Don't know what tagging program you use but see if it can read your music files and create a report or a dump of the metadata.

mp3tag can also export data in csv, RTF, or html formats. Unfortunately the process of specifying the export options is kind of geeky; it's a little beyond me, although I almost get it. See Help/Export options. There are some predefined formats that you can preview and download from the mp3tag website which might do the job; see here.

I also use mp3tag to download all tags (including custom tags) to a csv file (which you can load directly in applications as excel). If you want to go into that direction, I can create you some screenprints of the process if you want.

RE: Music Library File - Excel or PDF
I use a simple procedure to create a spreadsheet of my music library. I use iTunes solely for 'housekeeping' the library (editing meta-data etc).

Details of the procedure are here:

David

System: ALAC iTunes library on Synology DS923+ (running MinimServer) > NetGear router > Optical isolation > dCS Network Bridge (controlled by Galaxy Tab S2 tablet running BubbleUPnP&Mosaic) > PS Audio DirectStream DAC > Primare A60 > Harbeth SHL5plus 40th Anniversary model
