A newbie's question is how can I make my iPhone connect …
Hi All User
Helpme please ??I have a minimserver running on my Raspberry Pi. I have a USB drive with my music connected to it, and I can play everything on my network. A newbie's question is how can I make my iPhone connect to play music outside my home network using my LTE internet? |

The control app BubbleUPnP has a companion program, BubbleUPnP Server. You can do what you want with these two programs and Minimserver. The problem is that BubbleUPnP is available only on Android devices. You can try the suggestions for iPhone that you will find if you put
bubbleupnp iphone equivalent into a search engine. |

For this, you need to access MinimServer through a VPN. See this post and subsequent discussion on the thread for how some other users have got this to work.

Unless I am wrong, you can access minimserver status and parameter through a VPN, but not the music itself. I have tried many times, and Upnp does not detect the server while I can access the parameter on the local network. In other term, Upnp does not seem to work on top of a VPN.
Happy to hear if someone succeeded in doing this though. |

UPnP discovery doesn't work over a VPN so you need a control point that allows you to manually configure the server's connection details; on Android MediaMonkey and foobar2000 allow you to do this. Whilst BubbleUPnP can't connect directly to the "remote" server it can via BubbleUPnP Server.
Whilst I'm not a fan of Plex, PlexAmp is probably the simplest solution for iOS users, though I believe Synology has their own solution too. |
