The information in brackets is used by MinimServer to inform the control point and renderer (player) of the stream type before the stream starts playing. Some control points and players need this and some don't. From your post, the Pete Manchester player does not need this information but RoPieee does.

Your previous setting of [;mp4a] is an incorrect stream type and is ignored by MinimServer. Your new setting of [;aac] is correct for BBC streams. I am pleased to hear that BBC streams are working for you now.
