Album Artist rather than Artist?
Hi Team,

This is probably an easy one but when i am using the Wiim home app and play an compilation album the app shows "song name" by "various artist"

I did a search on the Wiim forum and it suggests this is the order in which minimserver tags the files and therefore show that way?

Ive tagged all compilations or sound tracks with the song name, the actual artist and "various artists" for the album artist.

Is there a tweak in the minimserver or is it a wiim issue?

Since update 241 (October 2023) MinimServer is one of the only servers where the WiiM Home app correctly shows track artists in album view, at least on Android.

What version of MinimServer are you running, and on what platform is the WiiM Home app?

EDIT: The underlying fault lies with the WiiM Home app because it takes the first artist tag it receives, whereas it should take the first non-AlbumArtist tag. MinimServer with update 241 changed the way it delivered the tags to help with problem controllers.

Do you have the licensed version of MinimServer? I think there is a setting you can enable to prevent the AlbumArtist tag from being sent for track listings.

It's strange that the Android WiiM app takes the first tag it sees yet the iOS version takes the last!

With the full version of MinimServer, you can set the tagFormat property to AlbumArtist.displayFormat={} to prevent MinimServer sending AlbumArtist values to the control point in browsing metadata.
