Unable to play 16-bit 44.1KHz music files on my NAS
Unable to play 16-bit 44.1KHz AIFF music files on my NAS
I use JPlay iOS with MinimServer and MinimStreamer + a Synology NAS. The music comes to an Angstrom ZDA71 Streamer/DAC. I installed ffmpeg4. Everything works perfectly with Qobuz or DSD and HighRes files that are on my NAS. But it's impossible to read simple 16-bit/44.1KHz CD albums...! Playback starts but no sound... Help! |

If so, is .aiff on the list? (My US$300 streamer manual says it does not support .aiff. But for your €9000+ streamer... ) Have you set Minimstreamer to transcode .aiff files to .wav for example? Enter aiff:wav in the stream.transcode field on your Minimstreamer Properties web page https://minimstreamer.com/userguide.html#Transcoding |

To be more precise, reading does not work with 16-bit AIFF files but it works with 24-bit AIFF files. (still on Synology NAS) However, the "aiff:wav" transcode makes 16-bit files work!!! But with a horrible sound, full of echo. |

RE: Unable to play 16-bit 44.1KHz music files on my NAS
From the Minimserver manual page that I referenced:
Audio Interchange File Format (AIFF) files. Valid for local files served by MinimServer (.aif, .aiff) only. The output type must be L16, L24, wav, wav16, wav24 or wav32. You can try the five other output types and see whether one of them has no echo and plays 24-bit. |
