Newbie: Album.SortTag failure - 2nd trial
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your quick answer. I firstly replied with PM because my first thread has accidentally been closed. I tested a little bit further and I'd like to clarify my problem a little bit more: 1) My n albums list is mostly sorted alphabetically by album while I would like to have it sorted alphabetically by Artist and than by Albums. Even with Album.sortTags={Artist, Album} this is not working. My Denon HeosClient as well as my T+A MusicPlayer are not able to follow this. On contrary my Synology AudioStation displays correctly ![]() 2) Isn't it possible to listen to every album of one artist in a row? Like one CD after the other? Or is it necessary to deal with that task inside the client? Than I have a problem with my T+A controller not providing Smart-Playlists. 3) I am used to searching in a list of artists and in the next step to seeing and selecting one or all albums of this artist. Might that be possible? I really like MinimServer because of the transcoder for alac to wav on the fly. thx Daniel ----- my properties: indexTags: Artist , Album merge... false tagOptions: Album.sortTags={Artist , Album} tagFormat: Artist.displayFormat={$artist} |

Quote:I tested a little bit further and I'd like to clarify my problem a little bit more: It sounds like Denon HeosClient and T+A MusicPlayer are ignoring the sort order that MinimServer is sending and are using an alphabetical sort order instead. To confirm this, please try browsing your library using Linn Kinsky. This displays your library using the same sort order that MinimServer is sending to the control point. WIth many control points, you can select by Artist and then do a "Play all" or "Queue all" operation for the "n albums" section for the artist. This is the best way to do what you want. For example, BubbleUPnP is an excellent control point for Android and it provides this capabilty. Quote:3) I am used to searching in a list of artists and in the next step to seeing and selecting one or all albums of this artist. Might that be possible? You can select by Artist and then select "n albums" to see a list of all albums for the artist. From this list, you should be able to select one or more albums. Quote:I really like MinimServer because of the transcoder for alac to wav on the fly. I would recommend removing Album from indexTags. If this is present, you will get an "Album" selection in addition to "n albums". I think you will find it simpler and more convenient to use the "n albums" selection only. |

RE: Newbie: Album.SortTag failure - 2nd trial
Hello,
I tried to check it with Linn Kinsky. However, I can't get a connection to the server. It doesn't appear as source. Even for the other clients the accessibility of the minim server is not reliable. Sometimes only a reset of the whole NAS solves the problem after several rescans and even resets of the server. It is not, that the server is down. It states "running" and some clients find it, some not. Running streams are not effected, while e.g. a second client is not able to get connected. Is there a possibility to set the reporting interval? With Syno Mediaserver this perfectly worked out the problem. Daniel |

This problem indicates that your network has a problem handling multicast messages. These problems can be difficult to debug and solve. As a starting point, is there a setting in your router to disable IGMP snooping? |

RE: Newbie: Album.SortTag failure - 2nd trial
Okay, I slightly changed my setup to narrow it down:
Former setup: - Cable router for internetaccess (without IGMP snooping setup) - Time Capsule connected with router in bridge-mode serves as WLAN router (IGMP snooping active) - Syno DS214 attached to cable router New setup: - DS214 attached to Time Capsule (IGMP snooping still activated) Visibility and accessibility of minim server seems to be better now. Still Linn Kinsky is not able to find anything, which seems to be a problem between Kinsky and my clients, because Kinsky looks via "Rooms" at "Sources". However - it works much better now - thx! I think, I will find a suitable workaround with my clients to handle more than one album. |
