I will not mind working with you to see how I can install your server on top of Alt-F. Are you able to please take a look at Alt-F and let me know which of the packages you offer that can be used for this purpose, or perhaps consult with its creator on how this could be done. I just don't have the knowledge, but between you two a great package is waiting to be had. I will do the write-up, based on my experiences and create a wiki. Please see how best you can help. OK, thanks for that. We have now reached a dead end on this, as the developer of Alt-F says the Dlink DNS 323 is too limited on CPU and memory, to run java. This is too unfortunate. Here the output of cat /proc/cpuinfo on the D-Link DNS-323: Processor : ARM926EJ-Sid(wb) rev 0 (v5l) BogoMIPS : 331.77 Features : swp half thumb fastmult edsp java CPU implementer : 0x41 CPU architecture: 5TEJ CPU variant : 0x0 CPU part : 0x926 CPU revision : 0 Cache type : write-back Cache clean : cp15 c7 ops Cache lockdown : format C Cache format : Harvard I size : 32768 I assoc : 1 I line length : 32 I sets : 1024 D size : 32768 D assoc : 1 D line length : 32 D sets : 1024 Hardware : MV-88fxx81 Revision : 0000 Serial : 0000000000000000 More info here: Specs of the D-Link DNS-323 There are currently two revisions of the D-Link DNS-323, revision A1 and B1. Revision A1 uses a Marvell 88F5181 CPU along with a separate SATA chip. Revision B1, on the other hand, uses a Marvell 88F5182 CPU which integrates SATA into the SoC itself. The DNS-323 revision B1 is also sold by Conceptronic as the CH3SNAS. The 64MB of RAM rules out the possibility of running Java and MinimServer. MinimServer can run on a 500 MHz ARM CPU, but not with as little as 64MB of RAM. Installing Debian wouldn't help. |

As with all potential future enhancements, I can't give a definite commitment to add this support or give any estimate for when it might be available. This support is now available in MinimServer update 42. It should work when MinimServer is running on a platform with a native graphical interface (Mac, Windows, some Linux). You can't do this with MinimWatch, only with MinimServer. |
