Paid Version – Monitor Folder?
Does the paid version monitor the music folder and automatically update when changes / additions are made or do you still have to do a Rescan? I always forget to do a Rescan with the free version…

RE: Paid Version – Monitor Folder?
For me now it's just the last step in the process of pushing music to my MinimServer content directory. If it's an automated process then I can understand it being more of an issue.
I don't know what control point you use, but a rescan can be initiated from BubbleUPnP and Lumin, then of course you have the MinimServer configuration web page and MinimWatch, so it shouldn't be too much of a pain, once you've remembered to do it. It can be scheduled, but there would still be a gap between having moved your music to the content directory and the scan taking place. |

Shame.
Simon – any plans to introduce this..?This subject has been discussed before: https://forum.minimserver.com/showthread...tic+rescan There are pros and cons regarding automatic rescanning. I hope if Simon going to implement automatic rescanning he will give the user the choice by setting manual or automatic |

Shame. Simon – any plans to introduce this..?[/quote] Few big cons for example : - what if you’re editing metadata and each time you save a track or a group of tracks the rescan starts automatically ? - what if you’re copying new albums/folders in the watched directories, when should the rescan start? After each copy of an album is ended or after the whole copy is ended? The best thing is to define a task process: edit/copy albums/tracks and at the end of the task start the rescan manually and remember to complete this process every time , that’s it, simple and effective. The rescan takes very few minutes, if not seconds. |

In addition to the issues mentioned here and in the referenced thread, there are technical issues with the present design of MinimServer that would require significant redesign to make this possible. There is also a possibility that enabling continuous monitoring and automatic rescanning on every change would impact sound quality because of added system resource consumption. For these reasons, my first priority for rescanning improvements is to make a manual rescan quicker in the common case where a small number of new files have been added with no other changes. Even this is not simple to implement and I can't give any estimated timescale for when it might be available. |

RE: Paid Version – Monitor Folder?
To clarify my comment about this, there are some users with very large libraries (more than 100,000 tracks) for whom a rescan takes two or three minutes even though only one or two albums have been added. MinimServer is unavailable for browsing during this time, although previously queued music can still be played.
