Problems with MinimServer 0.63 on a QNAP TS-109
Hi,

I've installed MinimServer 0.63 on a QNAP TS-109, but it wont enable under the applications tab.

I started out by installing Java JRE 7 QPKG. It seems ok as it says "enabled" (version 7) in the applications tab.

I then installed MinimServer, but when i click "enable" it says "action in progress" for a few seconds, then switches back to "status: disable".

Any ideas?

Please look at the system log. Is there a message there?

Indeed there is!

I have some error messages from MinimServer saying that JRE is not installed and enabled.

Under the applications tab everything seems fine but perhaps something is wrong with the java plugin?

I will reinstall JRE and try again.

Thanks for the help!

Im out of luck it seems.

I reinstalled the JAVA software and tried both versions 6 and 7. Under the QPKG tab it says that JRE is enabled.

When i try to enable MinimServer it switches back to "disable". In the system log i get the following error message:

MinimServer error: JRE is not installed and enabled.

Maybe my NAS is to old?

This message is produced if there's no executable file at /usr/local/jre/bin/java. Enabling the JRE package should create this file.

How exactly are you installing the JRE? Did you follow the instructions on this page exactly?

What other QPKGs do you have installed? Perhaps something else is interfering with the JRE installation and preventing it from creating the /usr/local/jre/bin/java file.

Thre shouldn't be any problem with doing this on a TS-109. I've got a TS-109 (not currently running) and this has worked OK for me. Other TS-109 users have also had success.

Some people have had problems with the MinimServer package starting before the Java package when the NAS is rebooted. This would produce the same error message. However, it doesn't sound like the problem you're seeing is happening on a reboot.

It would be worth trying the following:
1) Uninstall both JRE and MinimServer
2) Reboot the NAS
3) Install and enable JRE
4) Install and enable MinimServer

RE: Problems with MinimServer 0.63 on a QNAP TS-109
Thanks for the help. I followed the instructions you'll refering to, but I must admit that I really dont know what I'm doing. I uploaded the tar.gz things (tried version 6 and 7) to the public folder and ran the JRE_7.qpkg from the QNAP GUI.

I use no other QPKG plugins, just MinimServer and JRE. Its a fresh firmware install just running the preinstalled twonky before this.

I will try the actions you're suggesting.

Again, thanks for the help.

It sounds like you've done everything correctly. Please let me know how you get on with the suggested actions.
