MinimServer problems with Mac OS X 10.7.5
There appears to be an incompatibility between MinimServer and the recently released Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 update. This update includes Gatekeeper, which has new rules for which applications are allowed to open incoming connections through the firewall.
I haven't been able to find a way to configure Gatekeeper in 10.7.5 to work correctly with MinimServer if the Mac OS X firewall is enabled. Some things work, and others don't. I've been able to get the following to work:

The problems were apparently caused by a difference in the way 10.7.5 handles IGMPv3 queries. I've worked around it by changing my switch settings to send IGMPv2 queries instead. Everything seems to be working well now with MinimServer and 10.7.5. The addition of Gatekeeper doesn't seem to change the previous arrangements for authorizing MinimServer to accept incoming connections the first time it's started after being downloaded. I'm currently running with the Security and Privacy option to allow applications downloaded from the Mac App Store and identified developers. Setting this option to "Anywhere" also works, but it isn't necessary to do this. |
