MinimServer launch problem
I have installed MinimServer on my Ubuntu PC. Problem is, although the startup command and the desktop shortcut are enabled, neither works. After much experimentation, it seems that the server needs root privilege to launch. At the command prompt I can navigate to the bin folder and enter sudo sh starti - this works but only under sudo. Similarly I can use a root file manager by entering sudo nautilus and double click on starti - this also works.

Once launched the server works perfectly.

All suggestions gratefully received ...

You should not use root privilege to install or launch MinimServer or to run any of the minimserver/bin commands. If you have done any of these with root privilege, this will cause problems with files being written with root ownership and MinimServer will not work as intended.

To fix this, you need to uninstall MinimServer completely (using sudo minimserver/bin/uninstall) and then reinstall MinimServer as a regular user. This should enable the desktop shortcut to work correctly.

RE: MinimServer launch problem
Thanks Simon, you are quite right there were 2 files in the tmp folder with root ownership. Having re-installed everything works perfectly. I can now use the BBC HLS streams from my Roberts web radio - brilliant!
