Thanks Simon!
I just wanted to state how impressed I am with Minimserver, and thankful for Simon's efforts. For the past several weeks, I have been using it on a Synology server, with JPlay Streamer running on Zuma computer and a Mojo Audio Mystique DAC. I'm using the Bubbleupnp app on my Android phone. This is one killer digital front end -- way better than JRiver, which ruled my digital roost for a year. I actually prefer the ergonomics of Bubbleupnp on the phone better than JRemote on the ipad, although the latter is definitely a nice piece of software.

There is one tiny fly in the ointment, which I believe is a JPlay issue and have contacted them about. However, I'll mention it here in case Simon has a clue, or another reader. Occasionally -- unpredictably and non-repeatedly -- between tracks there is a short burst of white noise, for less than a second. this occurs perhaps one time in 20 tracks.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. -- David

RE: Thanks Simon!
On my NAS I run BubbleUPnP server and minimserver and I use BubbleUPnP client on my droids. The bub server has my Yamaha RX-V677 as an OpenHome Renderer (receiver is wifi in main room) and the playlist lives on the NAS and not on the droids which is quite brilliant. You might went to look into loading the bubbleupnp server package on your synology and giving it a go to see if you like it. It also makes any of your MS's reachable from outside world over https connection.

I get static/glitch/drops/action timeout/weird crap every now and again and the fix for me is to power down/re power the Yamaha receiver. I was able to help this SLIGHTLY by editing the confiuration.xml file of bub server to be 10,000ms for the renderer. This helped but did not solve.

I tried SO MANY clients and media servers and all of them had this behaviour which leads me to believe it is not the client nor the media server but the hardware. In fact, any weird issue I have ever had with bubble or minim has never BEEN bubble or minim but something else entirely.

Let me know if you discover any fixes to your occasional static/pop issues. Mine has been plaguing me since day 1.

Steen -- Thanks for the info. I guess I've been spoiled. As I mentioned, prior to this software setup, I had JRiver as server/renderer/ control point. It was pretty close to flawless, in terms of the music playback weird stuff you mentioned, but it certainly did crash every now and then. Same with the new arrangement, playback is smooth, but for the occassional static stinger between tracks. A real eye opener if one happens to be borderline nodding off ;<] David

I have never experienced this myself (using a Linn DS as the renderer). I suspect (like you) that it is a renderer issue.

What type of files are you playing when this happens? I have occasionally seen reports of this problem (not just with MinimServer) when playing DSF files.

Simon, these were all 16/44 WAV files. I have a debugging script from JPlay that I plan on runnning. Thanks. -- David
