reverseName settings not reapplying correctly
Until recently my Composer.reverseName.display, Composer.reverseName.display.index settings were working fine, so, for example, Ludwig van Beethoven was shown as such while showing under B in my Naim app controller. Everything has been working swimmingly for months. I added some more Beethoven music with (mistakenly) Beethoven as the composer so naturally and correctly I saw both Beethoven and Ludwig van Beethoven as composers under B. After I corrected Beethoven in the file tags to Ludwig van Beethoven, all old and new Beethoven moved to be displayed in my Naim controller under L for Ludwig van Beethoven not B. It did not honour the settings. The other music was still displayed/indexed by lastname. I could not correct it so I removed the composer name reversal/display/indexing from settings. I managed to get it all sorted correctly by first name in the Naim controller only after a "Restart" for 1024 albums. Then I put the composer settings back to try to reindex everything by last name. Despite a restart everything is back where it was with just about all composers correctly sorted by last name, but Ludwig van Beethoven is stubbornly under L. I also had the same problem with another composer. I am also terminating the Naim app and reopening it with each try.

Anyway to force this to work correctly and obey the reverseName settings (I am also using Artist names the same way)? I am doing something wrong or there is gremlin in the system.

The server runs on a Pi 4B under the PiOS lite 64 bit (headless), controller is the Naim app. MinimWatch is running on Windows 11 used to configure etc the server (I would use Linux Mint only that doesn't work go figure for a top linux distro - way too many hoops to get that going and it still didn't work, I did try).

RE: reverseName settings not reapplying correctly
I should add I was rescanning after every tag change and began restarting when settings changes did nothing at all. Ditto restarting the Naim app. Bar wiping the Pi and reinstalling the OS and server I have run out of ideas. That seems a bit draconian.

RE: reverseName settings not reapplying correctly
This looks to be a caching problem of your Naim app. Delete and reinstall it.
Also double-check with either mConnect on iOS or BubbleUPnP on Android.
They will tell you what’s coming out of MinimServer.

RE: reverseName settings not reapplying correctly
You need to tag the new album as Beethoven, Ludwig van. This is the same as how your other Beethoven albums are tagged.

RE: reverseName settings not reapplying correctly
OK stupid of me with the new albums, only that doesn't explain how all the pre-existing correctly tagged Beethoven, Ludwig van albums are not under B but under L. I have been using the convention "lastname, first names" until this screw up due to buying some music pre-tagged - so the old stuff should continue to behave. Let me make the correction and see what happens.

RE: reverseName settings not reapplying correctly
OK - all is back to normal after reversing composers with the comma in my new albums. That's a win. What is weird (and what probably confused things) was that my old "Beethoven, Ludwig van"* albums moved under L when I added the 10 new albums with Ludwig van Beethoven as composer. All the other old correct "last, first" carried on displaying as "First Last" indexed by Last. Does that make any sense?
* When I adopted Minimserver I renamed all my composers to this format to use the reverseName feature. A lot of mp3tag work.
