Server not showing NDX2/Mac mini - ? Java issue
New user trying to get minimserver 2.2 working. I’ve installed the latest apps (2.2f5) on my Mac mini m1 ( Tahoe 26.3.1). I updated my Java to v26. Minumserver icon is black & minimwatch icon is brown. No errors showing apart from playlist file errors (m3u). The server is not showing up on the Naim ndx2 even though it says it’s running. I’ve tried many restarts and reboots but nothing to rectify issue. I even asked ChatGPT and it had me installing Java v21 and tweaking things but again no joy.

Anybody able to help me?

I’ve tried to remove the files and reinstall but there must be some hidden files somewhere because the newer install always knows where my music files are. a full remove and reinstall might help. Can anyone tell me how to do this.

Thanks

RE: Server not showing NDX2/Mac mini - ? Java issue
It is possible to do a full remove and install but this will not solve the problem. Also, this is not a Java issue.

The is no need to run MinimWatch on the Mac if you are running MinimServer on the same Mac. MinimWatch is only needed if MinimServer is running on a different device. To keep things simple, I suggest you exit MinimWatch.

When you say that the MinimServer icon is black, I presume this is a black musical note (minim) with a transparent background. Other background colours can be shown in certain circumstances (for example, red for error) but the minim symbol is always black.

You say that MinimServer isn't showing up on the NDX2. Is this on the NDX2 itself (front panel display) or in the Naim app?

Are you running a recent MinimServer update level (update 272 or update 274)? The update level is shown at the start of the MinimServer log.

On the Mac, if you select Local Network under System Settings > Privacy & Security, do you see MinimServer as enabled or disabled? If it is disabled, this would explain the problem you are seeing. In this situation, powering the Mac off and on usually fixes the problem.

Thanks for the reply.
You are correct, black musical note on a transparent background. It’s the Naim app that I am referring to when I say the Minimserver isn’t showing up.
I am running the latest 274 update and on the temporary license.
Checking the local network option was one of the things ChatGPT suggested and yes the switch for both Minimserver and Minimwatch was on the on position.

Once again thank you for taking the time to reply, I appreciate your input.

RE: Server not showing NDX2/Mac mini - ? Java issue
From the information you have provided, this seems like a network UPnP multicast discovery problem. You can find more information about this on the Troubleshooting page.

The first thing to try is power off all your network devices and power them on in the order described on the page.

If this doesn't help, look at your router settings. If IGMP snooping is enabled, you should disable it if you can.

I’ve installed minimserver on my NAS and it works without an issue. Wow it’s so nice too, far better than Plex I was using before.

If your music is on a NAS, it is better to run MinimServer on the same NAS. Runnng it on a Mac can be tricky because of network-related changes in recent macOS versions that don't seem to work correctly in all cases.
