Docker container: license, upgrade and other question
Hi to all.
from today I'm trying minimserver (I didn't know it) and i'm very happy: it is very beautifull. I wiil do some experiment in trial mode and then i will buy license! I have some doubt about docker container installation. In order: I installed it as docker container: it run in a raspberrt4 that i use for my "home automation". It is all ok, i mount as volume my music folder in "/music". Next I activated the trial license. After i recreated the image because I trivially added to the properties of the container the time zone and i lost the license and the configuration that i had done. So, is there a folder of the container that I can move out from container and mounting as volume to preserve my config, license etc? otherwise when i get an update of the container i lose all... anyway, how do I proceed in case of update (or reconfig)? thanks! |

RE: Docker container: license, upgrade and other question
I discovered that config file are in /opt/minimserver/data so i Will try to mount this Path as volume. Inside this folder there are also n. 2 log files and n. 1 pid file. Maybe it Is the case to mount this n. 3 files in tmpfs...I Will study about. In this folder there are some license file but i think that they are linked in some way to the container so in case to destroy and recreate container the license go out in any case. But if i understood the trick Is to deactivate license before update the container and reactivate It After... What do you think? Am I on a right way?

RE: Docker container: license, upgrade and other question
The full license activation is tied to the container contents, so you can't mount the license file from another volume and reuse it. As you have said, you need to deactivate the full license manually before you destroy the container.
For testing a new setup in a container, the best approach is to activate the free 30-day trial license. If you need to recreate the container, you can activate the free trial again in the new container. When you have a stable setup working, you can purchase and activate a full license. The best way to preserve configuration settings is to export your profile from the container to persistent file elsewhere. You can then import this file into a newly created container. See this section for more details. Mounting the /opt/minimserver/data folder from another volume container might work but is not recommended or supported. Importing a profile file is a better approach. |

RE: Docker container: license, upgrade and other question
Yes, you can do this unlimited times. The only limit is to the number of activations at any one time.
