Control Point for IPhone and Surface 3
Hi,
Currently using a Melco N1A with Minim Server installed. I'm looking for a control point for both a Microsoft Surface 3 and Iphone 6S+ , I'm just tired of searching on the web. Can anybody shed some light for me please. I've been using an Android based tablet with BubbleUpnp with very satisfactory result so far but can't seem to find anything comparable on other platforms. My DAC is a Forssell MDAC 2. I also have a Cambridge Audio CXN that would nice to control with the same control point. I apologize if a similar has been posted before but couldn't find anything through the search engine. Thanks a million for your suggestion, Dan |

RE: Control Point for IPhone and Surface 3
For the Surface 3 try Linn Kazoo. Works very well with Windows 10. I believe there is an Iphone version but not sure. The certainly is an Android version that is also very good.
Streaming from a Synology 1511+ to a Cyrus Stream XP2 QX, 2x Roberts 93i, A Revo Superconnect, a Mede8er 600 3D and a few Squeezeboxes thrown in! |

RE: Control Point for IPhone and Surface 3
I haven't found any iOS control point that comes close to BubbleUPnP. For some suggestions, see this post.

If it can't find your renderer(s) and/or refuses to start, this is because your renderer(s) don't support OpenHome. |

If that happens, you may be able to use BubbleUPnP Server to turn your renderer/player, in effect, into an OpenHome renderer. Despite its name, BubbleUPnP Server is not actually a server; it is bridge software that adds capabilities to UPnP and OpenHome devices. Both of Linn's control points (Kinsky and Kazoo) run on the Surface 3, and they don't have much competition. Foobar2000 with the fooUPnP add-on is one possibility, but it is complicated to install and is a complex app just to use as a control point. There is also Upplay, which is almost entirely text-based, but is very straightforward to use, especially when you amend the configuration files to tweak the on screen text sizes. None of these apps are 100% comfortable in a touchscreen environment. I am not that fond of the trackpad on my Surface 3, but in the right environment (say on a lap tray or desk) a wireless mouse plugged into the full size USB socket makes the apps very usable. Because the Surface has such a small footprint, it can be used with a mouse in much tighter spaces than even the smallest laptops. Linn have issued a beta of a re-designed Kazoo for Windows. It seems to work reasonably well on the Surface, so, subject to the OpenHome compatibility issue, could well be a good prospect for the future. David |

Melco is used as an OpenHome (actually Hybrid) renderer but for some strange reason Kazoo I guess seems to be looking for a LINN DS which I don't have. Any way to go around it as Kazoo appears to a better user interface from what little I have seen? Now let me work on the Surface 3. Thank you again guys, Dan |

Kazoo always says "sending track to DS" but it still works nicely with my Cyrus Stream XP. Linns previous and now discontinued Control Point called Kinsky is also worth a try. Different interface but works with Upnp renderers as well as Openhome.
