Does Synology Media Server have to be uninstalled/stopped?
I have recently bought my first NAS, a Synology DS215j.
I have decided to try MinimServer. I am not 100% sure which Synology package MinimServer will be replacing (I'm guessing it to be 'Media Server') and I'm wondering if I need to uninstall or stop the Synology package which MinimServer will be taking over from? One other question: When adding new music, from what I can make out, I will still be adding music to the Synology music folder and refreshing MinimServer where it will find the new music files? Thanks |

RE: Does Synology Media Server have to be uninstalled/stopped?
Installing MinimServer doesn't replace any other package. If you wish, you can run Synology Media Server and MinimServer together (pointing at the same music folder) and they will not conflict with each other. This can be useful if you are already a user of Synology Media Server and you are trying MinimServer to see how it compares.
If and when you decide to run MinimServer as your only music server, you can stop or uninstall Synology Media Server. |
