Recent Files failure - DeafPost - 21-06-2026 12:22

All has worked fine for a year or two. Suddenly, "Recent files" shows some files from 2024 but none from this year. MinimServer, operating system & server firmware have not been updated recently. Everything shut down & rebooted, no change. Please can anyone help?

Is the problem with the Recently Added index, the Recently Played index, or both?

Also, what device are you using to run MinimServer?

Thanks for your prompt response. Problem is with Recently Added index. Minim is running on a QNAP TS-262. Control is by Linn Kazoo running on an old Samsung tablet

On a QNAP NAS, the list of recently added files is saved in the added-dates.txt file in the MinimServer/recent folder. The most recent files are at the end of the list. What do you see in this file?

At the bottom of the list are the files shown as "Recent", the same ones that are at least 2 years old. All the files in the list are old ones.

When you do a MinimServer rescan after adding new files, the added-dates.txt file is modified to include any new files found by the rescan (up to your limit as described below).

If the number of entries in the added-dates.txt file is less than your limit for added files (the default is 300 and can be increased to up to 1000 via a configuration setting), other files with recent modification timestamps are also shown under Recently Added. The added-files.txt file in the recent folder contains the complete list of files in these two categories.

Are you using the default limit of 300 or have you increased this?

How many entries are in the added-dates.txt file and in the added-files.txt file?

Have you done a rescan recently?

Is there any possibility that backup/restore software running on your NAS or another computer might have overwritten the added-dates.txt file with an older version?

Answers to your queries:-
I have not changed the limits. Up to now, Minim has worked perfectly & done what I wanted without any problems.
added-dates & added-files look to have identical files and have 300 entries each. The files listed have been on the NAS for over 2 years & are certainly not the latest at all.
last rescan was 22/6/26, last added file was 21/6/26
no backup/restore software has access to or is on the NAS

Thanks for this information. You said that all the files in the Recently Added index are more than 2 years old. You also said that the most recent file in addded-dates.txt is one day old. Is the list of files in Recently Added different from the list of files in added-dates.txt?
