Conflicting Genre Tag - mp3tag/MinimServer/Lumin App - g-man-langley - 22-09-2025 08:15 Hi, I have an issue with the genre tag of an mp4 file served by MinimServer. It's all here, sorry it's a tad long, but MinimServer is my next port of call, then Lumin. https://community.mp3tag.de/t/conflicting-genre-tag-mp3tag-vs-lumin-app/69825/60 Cheers for any help, Graham RE: Conflicting Genre Tag - mp3tag/MinimServer/Lumin App - simoncn - 22-09-2025 10:34 I have followed the link you posted to try to understand what is the problem you are having. In the other forum thread, I found a screenshot of a MinimServer log with messages like this: Warning: unexpected data type 21 for 'gnre' atom at offset 56666 in file Thelonius Monk.... Are the files that produce this warning the same files that are not showing the correct genre? If this isn't the problem you are having, please explain the problem in a post here. In the other forum thread, I found a screenshot of a MinimServer log with messages like this: Hi Simon, The issue is that I have files that purport to have the correct "Genre" tag. I have validated this using mp3tag, VLC and Foobar. Yet, MinimServer serves the Genre to the Lumin App as [unknown], and also Apple Music is not happy with them. I am not interested in Apple Music, it is MinimServer and Lumin that I would like to work. What do the warnings mean? RE: Conflicting Genre Tag - mp3tag/MinimServer/Lumin App - simoncn - 22-09-2025 13:19 The message means that the genre tag in this file is in an unexpected format that MinimServer does not recognise. Please upload one (only) of the files with this issue to my FTP server so that I can look at the contents of the file. I have sent you a private message via the forum with details of how to do the upload. RE: Conflicting Genre Tag - mp3tag/MinimServer/Lumin App - simoncn - 22-09-2025 20:49 Thanks for uploading the file. The genre tag in this file is in an incorrect format and this is why MinimServer is not reading a genre value for the file. I tried opening the file in Mp3tag. Mp3tag accepts the incorrect format when reading a file and uses the correct format when writing a file. This means you can easily fix the problem by opening the file in Mp3tag and selecting "Save tag" for the file without making any change to the file's tag values. This writes the file to disc with the tag in the correct format that MinimServer and Apple Music can read. |
