Minimsever update won't run - chris53 - 10-09-2025 16:48
Minimsever today advised me of an update and I allowed it to download. I quickly tried to install it not seeing that there were what appeared to be different instructions as I clicked install. Now it doesn't run and when I try to run it from within my Synology NAS I get an error.
Help please!

I can confirm that the update on Synology NAS does not work. Following error message appears in the log:
Fehler,System,2025/09/10 17:47:09,SYSTEM,"MinimServer start error: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/minimserver/ServerLauncher has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 61.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 58.0."
Fehler,System,2025/09/10 17:45:15,SYSTEM,System failed to start [MinimServer].
Addition: also the MinimServer installations under Container Manager fail to update.
DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 8 on DS916+

Yes, my synology system is also broken by this update. All the people I support will also be broken by this.
Looks like a Java version problem. Which I can't fix.
Minimserver start error:
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/minimserver/ServerLaunch has been compliled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 61.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 58.0

I can confirm this update has broken both my QNAPs. Cannot get MinimServer to run on either.

I have withdrawn update 260 while I work on a fix for this.
To revert to update 259 on Synology. do the following:
1) In Synology DSM File Manager, open the MinimServer shared folder and select the appData subfolder
2) Delete the minimserver.config file. Do not delete any other files.
3) From DSM Package Center, uninstall MinimServer, making sure you select the option to backup the configuration files.
4) From DSM Package Center, install MinimServer
MinimServer should now be up and running on update 259.
I will post instructions for QNAP soon. My apologies for the inconvenience.
