Which Renderer/Player-SW for DietPi? - Frodo - 22-12-2024 16:05 I have a Melco with MinimServer at home and listen in the living room with my Linn Klimax DSM. In my study I also want to access the Melco/Minimserver library and listen on an RPI/Audiophonics (I use active speakers). I have tried various distributions and have now come up with DietPi, which seems to me to be the most universal. Question: which renderer/player software have you installed on the RPi under DietPi? Unless you're using DietPi to install other software I'd look at Ropieee/Moode Audio as they both offer OpenHome interfaces, which I assume your control point is compatible with given you're using it with your Linn already. RE: Which Renderer/Player-SW for DietPi? - stefano_mbp - 23-12-2024 11:06 If of interest GMediaRender can’t play DSD (maybe only DSD64/DoP), RoPieee is the best option IMHO RE: Which Renderer/Player-SW for DietPi? - Frodo - 23-12-2024 11:44 Thanks guy's. I am testing Upmpdcli and GMediaRender which offers OpenHome functionality. I have used the guide here: https://www.lesbonscomptes.com/upmpdcli/pages/downloads.html#debian This command was not working: sudo apt install sc2mpd but hey, I can play the files from my Melco without any issue. Next step is to test this: http://openhome.org/pages/use/downloads/pi.html @stefano_mbp, I agree that RoPieee is great but it has some serious limitations: "...if you need to get access to the underlying system, you’ll have to choose something else, because Harry decided to make Ropieee a true appliance experience only - no tinkering allowed any longer…" With that I can't install the Audiophonics power control module which allows me to physically power on/off the system, without the need to run poweroff. Upmpdcli is the standard and used in most other audio platforms, so probably the best choice for a UPnP endpoint. |
