Album artwork file types - fblack - 08-07-2024 23:23

Hello. Would you consider including a wider range of file types to make different suffixes acceptable as album artwork? I have most of mine as folder.jpg. But some artwork files have a jpeg or webp extension. They do not show up in my Music Library in the renderer (which is BubbleUPNP). It isn't more than an minor inconvenience. However, there are space implications as well : webp seems particularly space efficient, which is a consideration in large libraries.

Many thanks for listening.

A MinimServer rescan needs to check all supported artwork file extensions for all audio files in the library. Checking every audio file for a .jpeg artwork file as well as a .jpg artwork file would increase rescan times for all users.

A better solution is to do a bulk rename of all your .jpeg files to .jpg. There are various tools that can do this (search for bulk rename).

Adding support for the .webp image format seems like a good idea. This format should be supported by newer control points including BubbleUPnP. I will add this to the list of new features to be supported in a future version of MinimServer.

Thanks Simon - understood about jpg and jpeg. I didn't know how much extra load that might mean. I do use a bulk renamer already. Usually when I see missing album artwork.

Regards

Support for WEBP artwork images (embedded images and .webp files) is now available in MinimServer update 260.
