Thanks. Isn't technology wonderful....? RE: Minimwatch unable to create tray icon - simoncn - 15-07-2024 15:05 This fix is now available in MinimWatch update 113 and MinimServer update 253. These updates have a few small changes from the test builds I sent you. Please try these updates and confirm that everything is still working as previously. Many thanks for all your help with finding and debugging this problem and testing the fixes to MinimWatch and MinimServer. Both updated, and also minimwatch on my laptop xubuntu 24.04. After reboot, icons are the correct size. All seem to work fine, not needing a click to one side. I still sometimes (but not always) struggle to get rid of the menu, even clicking to the underlying icon, but it's not a problem (I can always just go to About). If minimserver desktop integration is enabled, minimwatch doesn't connect, but then I guess having both on the same device is unnecessary. If you have more than one server on systems just use minimwatch. So all good. Thanks very much. I feel a little guilty, since I don't use minimserver much, for reasons I won't go into here, but I always like software that works well, and given excellent support that makes it even better. RE: Minimwatch unable to create tray icon - simoncn - 15-07-2024 17:00 Thanks for this. I haven't yet got to the bottom of the icon size difference. Typically I see the "squashed" icons when I first start MinimServer or MinimWatch and the "normal" icons appear some time later. MinimServer doesn't show an icon for a MinimServer instance running on the same device and showing its own icon. This is by design and is intended to prevent redundant icon duplication. There is an issue with Ubuntu 24.04 that I am still investigating. If MinimWatch detects multiple instances of MinimServer, the icons are overlaid on top of each other and only the topmost icon's menu can be accessed. RE: Minimwatch unable to create tray icon - simoncn - 15-07-2024 17:16 To my great surprise, I have just tried MinimWatch update 113 on 24.04 and it works as intended, with each icon in its own space.... That's what I am seeing now. The full height one is taller than every other icon. I can't say it bothers me either way. I had thought it was stable, but it's just changed as I type. Weird. RE: Minimwatch unable to create tray icon - Pastim - 03-09-2024 18:05 I have now moved on to ubuntu 24.04.1. minimserver 253. topiconsfix still there. No minimserver icon is shown when I start it. It's not a problem, now I know how to use the command line to get to the details, but I thought you might want to know. I tried minimwatch as well (disabling minimserver integration), and still no icon. RE: Minimwatch unable to create tray icon - simoncn - 03-09-2024 19:58 Thanks for letting me know. I will try this when I get a chance (busy with other issues at present). It worked! The minimserver version is still 253, so I guess something has changed in ubuntu/gnome. All Good :-) |
