Question to #AudioChannels - Thokra - 06-03-2024 17:38

Hi,

this is my first question / contribution to this forum:

These are my indexTags:

Artist, All Artists, Date, Genre, Composer, Conductor, Orchestra, MultiChannel, *RecentAdded, *RecentPlayed, #AudioData, #AudioFormat, #AudioQuality, #AudioChannels

The problem is that values for #AudioChannels do not appear in foobar, vlc or on my stereo receiver.

I appreciate any kind of solutions.

By the way: Although my understanding of English is not that bad, I don't understand the difference between indexTags and itemTags as described in the user guide.

Regards
Thokra

Welcome to the MinimServer forum!

Are all your files stereo 2-channel? If so, you will not see an index entry for #AudioChannels. This is because MinimServer's "intelligent browsing" doesn't show an index entry when only one value would be available for selection underneath it. If there are two or more different values (for example, 1 and 2 or 2 and 5.1), the index entry would be shown.

The values in indexTags are the tags that show in the browsing index. Sometimes you want MinimServer to read a tag that isn't in the browsing index and this is the purpose of itemTags. For example, the tag might be the sort value of another tag, so it needs to be read and used for sorting but it should not be shown for indexing.

Thank you very much, Simon.

Your answers to both of my topics are helpful indeed. Yes, I only have 2-channel files on my NAS.
Great job, Simon!
