License not properly deactivated - dakota127 - 31-01-2023 23:11 My two Raspberry Pi musicservers with minimserver (full license) are running for about two years now. Recently I configured a new microsdcard with the lastest Pi OS for one of the Pi's. Before sticking in the new card I wanted to deactivate the minimserver license using minimwatch on my Mac. After that I inserted the new card and installed minimserver. The deactivation did not seem to go well and I find myself with all three available licenses used up - however, I am only running two servers. I upgraded the license to 5 just to remove the limitation. Does deactivate really work every time ? Greetings from Switzerland, peter RE: License not properly deactivated - simoncn - 01-02-2023 15:50 When you say the deactivation did not seem to go well, do you mean you saw an error message displayed? Deactivation requires an internet connection. If your device didn't have an internet connection, you should have seen an error message telling you this. In this case, your license would have been deactivated on your device but not on the license server. If this happens, you need to restart MinimServer with an active internet connection and then do the deactivation again. Please use the Contact form on the minimworld.com website to provide your license details and information about which activation is no longer required. With this information, I can manually remove the activation for the OS that is no longer installed. RE: License not properly deactivated - simoncn - 04-02-2023 15:50 I have replied to your private message. From looking at the license server logs, it appears you have copied your MinimServer installation from one device to another without installing MinimServer from scratch on the new device. This is likely to cause problems because the unique device identifier has been cloned and this could prevent control points from seeing some of the cloned MinimServer instances. To prevent these problems, you should always create a new installation of MinimServer on each device. If you want to copy configuration settings from one MinimServer instance to another MinimServer instance, you should use the MinimServer configuration web page to export a profile file from one instance and import this profile file into the the second instance. Depending on how you copied data from one device to another, this might also be related to the problem you had with deactivation of one of your instances not working correctly. RE: License not properly deactivated - dakota127 - 06-02-2023 11:03 Yes, indeed, I seem to have made a mess. Sometimes I clone an sdcard to try new things on a new Pi. I certainly will follow your advice in the future. Thank you very much, that helps. Peter RE: License not properly deactivated - Ooteboe - 05-03-2023 11:07 I have installed a new clean windows version on my pc. Erased everything without deinstalling Minimserver first. Now it sais I have 3 installations, but I've installed it on only 2 machines. How can i get the third license back (for another computer)?
