alternative dlna controller app - dijomo - 01-01-2022 12:35 Hi, I hope this is the right place in the forum for my question. If not, would someone please advise? What I am looking for is a controller app that would support streamers from different manufacturers while maintaining the smart browsing feature of MinimServer. I am using MinimServer both in 2.0 (licensed) on a Synology NAS and in 0.8 on and older ReadyNas which I will phase out in the near future. I have tagged my entire library (~1k albums, mostly classical and jazz) fairly consistently and made extensive use of the composition tag to group multi-movement pieces. Typically I would browse in the sequence "composer-> composition -> album" or "composer-> composition -> artist" for classical and "title -> album artist" or "album artist -> album for jazz". I am using streamers from Naim (ND5XS), Linn (Sneaky DS) and Arcam (RPlay). They all come with their proprietary controller apps which serve the purpose quite well, l with some reservation against Play-Fi, as it seems not to support search nor alphabetical grouping in long lists (e.g. my composer tag list has 1000+ entries, so scrolling through 700 or so entries before you reach "Shostakovic" or "Stravinsky" can be painful). So, may I ask if anyone is aware of an app (or preferably has actual experience with it) that would - support MinimServer's flexible tagging, in particular the composition tag - support streamers from more than one manufacturer (Naim, Linn & Arcam in my case) - allows for quick browsing/scrolling through long lists of tag values Needless to say, I would be willing to pay for a license if the app really solves my issue. Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated, particularly if supported by actual experience ![]() BR Hannes RE: alternative dlna controller app - Peter StreamMagic - 01-01-2022 14:10 So, may I ask if anyone is aware of an app (or preferably has actual experience with it) that would - support MinimServer's flexible tagging, in particular the composition tag - support streamers from more than one manufacturer (Naim, Linn & Arcam in my case) - allows for quick browsing/scrolling through long lists of tag values In your case you need an app that can handle both OpenHome (Linn)as UPnP AV DNLA. You might try the Fidata app https://www.iodata.jp/fidata/en/product/app.htm , available on IOS and Android. An other solution is to install BubbleUPnP Server on your PC/NAS to make your non OpenHome renderers compatible and use a OpenHome app like Kazoo,Lumin or its equivalents. RE: alternative dlna controller app - dijomo - 01-01-2022 15:36 Dear Peter, thank you for the excellent advice and fast reply. At first sight the fidata app appearsindeed to be what I'm looking for. It allows to select either of my music servers and both ND5XS as well as Sneaky DS (rPlay is offline temporarily) and it allows selecting from long lists by jumping to the first letter... I will report once I did some more testing, including rPlay and another Naim device (Unity MkI). Thanks a lot, Hannes |
