Backup Issues on Melco N1ZH/2 Using Minimserver - ptcl99 - 27-12-2021 22:18 Simon, I experienced missing file folders once before in the backup process from a Melco N1 ZH/2 (non-EX). I thought I inadvertently made a mistake. I attached a USB hard drive to the backup port of Melco. Twonky was deactivated. The Minimserver was Version 1 then. With a similar configuration, I tried to backup 1,456 folders on the Melco yesterday. I got 181 folders the first time without error messages. I got more than 500 folders the second time. Melco firmware is 3.93. The Minimserver 2 is the latest. I prefer not to attach the USB drive to a computer to back up over the router. Any idea about why the backup is unreliable? Thanks, RE: Backup Issues on Melco N1ZH/2 Using Minimserver - simoncn - 27-12-2021 22:28 It is very unlikely that running MinimServer would interfere with making a backup. You can check this by stopping MinimServer while you are making a backup. To do this, use the Melco front panel to navigate to Settings > Music Database > Media Server App and select Off. You can then try the backup again. After the backup has finished, use the same front panel menu page to set Media Server App to MinimServer. Following the above instruction, I successfully backed up 1,456 folders. Therefore, there might be interaction between Minimserver 2 and the Melco backup in firmware 3.93. This is a feedback not a criticism. I am fond of Minimserver and Minimstreamer. Now I am anxious to reformat the drives to a spanned array to verify sound quality, per your input. RE: Backup Issues on Melco N1ZH/2 Using Minimserver - simoncn - 28-12-2021 18:08 When the backups were incomplete, did you get an error message on the Melco front panel? Also, was MinimServer idle or active (browsing, playing music or doing a rescan)? Also, was MinimServer idle or active (browsing, playing music or doing a rescan)? 1. No error messages on all previous occasions. 2. Backup is an important operation. So I did nothing with Minimserver concurrently. RE: Backup Issues on Melco N1ZH/2 Using Minimserver - simoncn - 28-12-2021 19:24 Thanks for this information. I have reported the problem to the Melco technical team. RE: Backup Issues on Melco N1ZH/2 Using Minimserver - ptcl99 - 31-12-2021 04:03 I am leaving the feedback for other users. The restoration process was also successful with Minimserver 2 still deactivated from the Melco front panel. After reselecting Minimserver, rescanning confirmed an equal number of albums. The only glitch was that Minimwatch initially said "Minimstreamer has been disabled because your updates license has expired". That is not the case. Reinstalling Minimwatch seems to solve the problem. Thank you Simon. RE: Backup Issues on Melco N1ZH/2 Using Minimserver - simoncn - 31-12-2021 11:54 I am not sure why you got this message about your updates license having expired. I checked the license database and your updates license doesn't expire until May 2022. It might be caused by the backup and restore process not having restored something related to your license. |
