Minimserver & Minimwatch both stopped working - Budgie64 - 16-05-2021 13:54 Hello have been running Minserver and Minimwatch 2.0.18 on my Mac os big Sur for a while with everything was working properly but for some reason it just stopped and I now cannot connect to the music directory on my Synology nas Model DS218 play, it says the content directory path isn’t absolute after reading various posts I tried a few things and I have now reinstalled both programs which are now both mounted when I am trying to add my nas music directory it it asks me to select the content directory but I cannot find in my guest/users or macintosh hd so have to manually input the text, this is and always has been /volume1/music which it still is in the music properties folder of the nas but something has changed as it now not says it is not a valid file, minimwatch is now also greyed out with none of the options available so i don’t think its connecting to minimserver though I am not sure if i need both to be running ? I have checked the firewall options and both are accepting incoming connections I can still access minimserver on my iOS devices though and play music through the Cambridge audio streaming app, any help greatly appriciated i have attached the minimwatch log if that helps Thanks Barry RE: Minimserver & Minimwatch both stopped working - simoncn - 16-05-2021 14:49 Your post says you have attached a MinimWatch log but there is no attachment in your post. Is your music library on your Synology NAS or on your Mac? RE: Minimserver & Minimwatch both stopped working - Budgie64 - 16-05-2021 18:10 Hi sorry it wont let me attach so this is the text, also my Library is on my Nas Thanks Barry MinimWatch 2.0.18, Copyright © 2012-2020 Simon Nash. It looks normal. Do you run MinimServer on your NAS and also run it on your Mac? If so, there is no need to run MinimServer on your Mac and it would be a good idea to uninstall MinimServer from your Mac to prevent confusion. In this case, you should continue to run MinimWatch on your Mac so that you can easily see the status of MinimServer or change any MinimServer settings. If you are not running MinimServer on your NAS, you can run MinimServer on your Mac. In this case, MinimServer accesses your music library on your NAS remotely across the network. With this setup, you don't need to run MinimWatch on your Mac. Please confirm which of the following best suits your needs: 1) Run MinimServer on your NAS (only) and run MinimWatch on your Mac 2) Run MinimServer on your Mac (only) and don't run MinimWatch When you have confirmed this, I will be able to provide further guidance for how to get things running correctly. RE: Minimserver & Minimwatch both stopped working - Budgie64 - 17-05-2021 09:49 Hi Simon Thanks for your detailed reply much appreciated, yes it is mounted & running on my Mac and installed on my nas I will Run MinimServer on my NAS (only) and run MinimWatch only on my Mac Whats the best way to proceed please ? Thanks Barry RE: Minimserver & Minimwatch both stopped working - simoncn - 17-05-2021 15:40 It should be simpler for you in many ways to use MinimServer in this way. To do this, do the following: 1) Use the Synology Package Center to install MinimServer 2 on the Synology (see this section). 2) Use the instructions on this page to set the correct content directory for MinimServer running on the Synology. 3) If you have added any custom settings to your current installation of MinimServer running on your Mac, use MinimWatch to open the Properties dialog for MinimServer running on the Synology and copy and paste your custom settings into this dialog. Depending on what settings you need to copy and paste, you might need to activate a trial or full license for MinimServer on the Synology. You can find details of how to do this on the Quick start for Synology page. 4) When everything is working correctly with MinimServer running on the Synology, you can uninstall MinimServer from your Mac as described in the Uninstalling MinimServer 2 on Mac section. RE: Minimserver & Minimwatch both stopped working - Budgie64 - 18-05-2021 23:18 HI Simon Thanks for the info I have always had installed on the Nas mininserver version 2.0.18.-1005 is this the right version ? there are no custom settings but I have added the content directory on the status page and it has scanned my library and says it is running, do i now install minimwatch on my mac and have to configure that before also deleting minimserver from the mac ? My licence type also is a starter Many Thanks Barry RE: Minimserver & Minimwatch both stopped working - simoncn - 19-05-2021 07:52 Yes, you need to install MinimWatch on the Mac as described on this page. When you start MinimWatch, it should show a minim icon for MinimServer on the Synology with the usual options (Properties, Rescan, etc.) When this is working, you can uninstall MinimServer from the Mac. RE: Minimserver & Minimwatch both stopped working - Budgie64 - 20-05-2021 20:26 HI Simon still having problems minimwatch is greyed out on mac I have recently installed new antivirus (Integro)but I believe the problem started before that I have Java 8 installed but I believe something must be blocking it I have looked at all the settings though and everything seems okay I have attached the minim watch log any ideas what the problem could be please ? If the Mac firewall is active, you need an entry in the firewall settings to allow MinimWatch to accept incoming connections. See note 1 under point 10 this section. |
