Problem installing MimimServer 2 on MacOS 10.13.6 - sandalholme - 01-11-2020 10:57

Simon, you are aware of this to some extent. Message yesterday saying 0.8.4 version no longer available or words to that effect. 0.8.4 sits on a MacMini with all the music files, streaming to a Cyrus Lyric, with a Cadence control point. Had (still have) difficulties with username/password on MacMini, but can still access the forum with the MacbookPro, the source of this post!

With the MacMini, I decided to follow the process to upgrade to MinimServer2, or try to. Went through the payment process, thought (didn't look properly) I had downloaded MinimServer2. Everything worked and still does. However, when coming to tidy up the system today, got an error message to the effect that 2 versions clashed. Assumed 0.8.4 was causing the error. Sent 0.8.4 to trash, then tried to change alias to MinimServer2. To my horror I find that I have re-installed 0.8.4, even though I followed the licencing form.

So, I clearly did not follow the process correctly and would welcome guidance on how to install MinimServer2 and safely disable 0.8.4 - which currently is soothing me with Bach. Many thanks.

There are detailed instructions for updating your Mac to MinimServer 2 in this section. If you follow these steps, everything should be OK.

Thank you Simon. Working fine. One small point: I carefully typed in the location folder and kept getting an error. I had included the "/"s. I then copied the location from the Get Info facility, which uses small arrows instead of /. It worked, substituting the arrows for the oblique. Simpler than typing!

By "location folder", I presume you mean the content directory (contentDir property). This should be typed with forward slashes "/" and no spaces surrounding the slashes. Also, it needs to be an absolute path.

I tried copying the Get Info path and it does work. macOS appears to do a conversion from "space arrow space" to '"/" as part of the copy and paste. The copy and paste also removes Macintosh HD from the start of the path.

You can also set the contentDir field by dragging and dropping a folder from Finder. Dragging and dropping the Get Info data also works. So many choices!

Thanks Simon.
