I'm sorry I'm causing you work and grief.

I have tried to do as you ask but can't.

On my W10 PC, if you type %TMP% [return] into File explorer you get a page with the title Desk-PC > AppData > Local > Temp

Note 'Desk-PC' not 'Home'.

On that page there are NO files begining with h see attached image as proof.

Sorry to be a pain, I'm doing my best.

Bob.

I know you are doing everything you can. I am also doing everything I can. If we both continue to do everything we can, we should get there in the end!

Thanks for this screenshot. It suggests the possibility that the hs_err_pid files might be under some other folder such as "Bob", "Shared Area", etc. Please do the following:

1) From the Start menu, select Windows System > Command Prompt
2) In the Command Prompt window that opens, type the command: cd \
3) Type the command: dir /s hs_err_pid*
4) You might need to wait some time for this to finish

If these hs_err_pid files are anywhere on your computer, this should find them.

Seems they don't exist at all.

See screen shot.

Thanks very much for doing this. This means the fatal error is not what I had expected. Please try the following:

1) Open a Command Prompt window
2) Type this command: cd "C:\Program Files\MinimWatch\lib"
3) Type this command: java -jar mwatch.jar

You should see something like the following:

MinimWatch 2.1.2 update 95.1, Copyright © 2012-2022 Simon Nash. All rights reserved.
Startup complete - press enter to shutdown:
MinimServer[White] is running
MinimServer[RED] is running
MinimServer[Blue] is running
MinimServer[Purple] is running
MinimServer[Orange] is running
MinimServer[Yellow] is running

The usual icons should also appear in the system tray.

Keep this Command Prompt window open and do what is needed to make MinimWatch stop abnormally. You don't need to set any logging options. After MinimWatch stops, is there any message in the Command Prompt window?

RE: MinimWatch - quits - mightyoakbob - 10-05-2022 11:07

I have just done that.

When I first tried the java command it said it was 'in use' or something like that, so I quit minimwatch and it then it allowed me to run the command.

The command fired up Minimwatch and the 6 icons popped up on the task bar.

I then logged into the nas boxes via web and Firefox. I used the web interface to shut down 3 nas, Orange, Purple and Yellow.

As you can see, the window stopped working after the purple nas stopped.

I considered this may be something to do with moving the input focus to various firefox tabs to perform the shutdown and so I did it all again but the second time I used the power buttons on the nas themselves to shut them down.

Same story in the command window, dropped out before yellow shutdown appeared.

After this I waited for 3 minutes and still had 4 icons on the task bar.
As soon as I went anywhere near them with the mouse, they all vanished.

This is challenging isn't it?

Bob.

Yes, this is extremely challenging.

If you close the MinimServer instances in a different order, does the output in the command window always stop after Purple has been closed? If so, this would provide a very important clue.

Just tried a different order of white, Blue, Yellow, Orange.
The image shows a different order but that is down to speed differences in NAS.

Four nas quit without issue. Then Quit Purple and it bombed again see image), so this time two icons left until mouse over and then both gone.

So purple looks guilty. Purple is the newest and fastest nas here, it a a DS116.

Thanks for this. I had suspected this is timing related and this information is further evidence to support this theory.

I have contacted the ohNet developers explaining what is happening. I will keep you informed. Thanks again for all your help with doing this testing.

That's interesting. Today I tried something slightly differnet. I ran up all 6 nas and then shut down yellow as normal but then on Purple I didn't kill the nas as normal but just stopped Minimserver. Same thing happened. Mouse over task bar and everything gone.

Pleased to take part, don't hesitate to ask if you want me to try anything else.

Bob.

I have created a debug build of MinimWatch with additional logging. Please run a test using this debug build. I have sent you a PM with details of how to do this. Many thanks.
