RE: Changing Hard Drive in a Melco - GreenMtnGringo - 30-03-2022 02:26 Thanks, @davidp. How did you decide on the WD Blue SSD's? RE: Changing Hard Drive in a Melco - davidp - 30-03-2022 10:17 @GreenMtnGringo My Melco was already fitted from new with WD Blues and I assumed swapping like for like was the least risk. I'd used Reds in a NAS and found them noisy. I went from 2x3Tb WD Blues to 2x4Tb. RE: Changing Hard Drive in a Melco - GreenMtnGringo - 31-03-2022 01:20 Thanks, @davidp. I might have assumed a fact not in evidence -- did you install 4-TB WD Blue spinning hard drives or 4-TB WD Blue solid state drives? Thanks. RE: Changing Hard Drive in a Melco - davidp - 01-04-2022 09:45 @GreenMtnGringo Conventional HDs not SSDs Regards David RE: Changing Hard Drive in a Melco - GreenMtnGringo - 01-04-2022 16:37 @davidp, thanks for the clarification, very interesting.... RE: Changing Hard Drive in a Melco - lyapounov - 18-05-2022 21:12 I have currently around 7T of music. If I had to buy a Melco, would it mean putting either 2 x 4T SSD with no redundancy or 2 x 8T HDD with redundancy ? And what about system files size ? RE: Changing Hard Drive in a Melco - simoncn - 18-05-2022 21:45 The music sounds better when the drives are formatted as spanned (no redundancy). It's better to do this and make sure you have a good backup. On the latest Melco models (EX series), about 30 GB of disk space is used for system files. |
