More than one NAS running MinimServer? - TomP - 21-02-2018 06:46 Can I have more than one NAS running Minimserver on my network and how do I set it (and MinimWatch) to handle this? Thanks...TomP RE: More than one NAS running MinimServer? - Peter@57m - 21-02-2018 07:51 From the Running MinimServer section of the manual: Multiple MinimServer instances You can run multiple instances of MinimServer on your local network. To help you identify these different instances, you can use the displayName property to specify a unique name for each instance. By default, MinimServer uses a display name of the form MinimServer[<hostName>] where <hostName> is the network host name of the computer on which MinimServer is running. The display name for the server is displayed by UPnP control points. It's also used by MinimWatch to identify different running MinimServer instances. RE: More than one NAS running MinimServer? - DavidHB - 21-02-2018 10:16 Peter is correct in all respects. I usually have two, and often have three, instances of MinimServer running on separate devices on my network. Do I need to edit the Minimwatch properties with the name of the 2 instances? RE: More than one NAS running MinimServer? - Peter@57m - 21-02-2018 10:39 Yes its based on the name you called your NAS which is visible on the network and must be unique. Its <hostName> You'll end up with two MinimWatch icons, one for each instance RE: More than one NAS running MinimServer? - TomP - 21-02-2018 10:56 (21-02-2018 10:39)Peter@57m Wrote: Yes its based on the name you called your NAS which is visible on the network and must be unique. Its <hostName>Thanks Peter !! Minimserver is now successfully installed on my other server (thanks also to the QNAP installation instructions on the main page) and everything is exactly as you said. |
