Gapless playback from .m3u file? - JimR - 18-12-2017 11:24 Held our annual Christmas party yesterday afternoon / evening. Plenty of booze, carols round the piano, then a bit of a boogie. Sore head this morning, but, I believe, a good time was had by all. Dancing was encouraged via a pre-prepared .m3u playlist file served by Minimserver to a Linn DS. The only issue was the multi-second gap between each track which did somewhat sap the dance floor momentum. So my question is this: Does anyone know a way to avoid these gaps? I know my system can play consecutive tracks from the same album gaplessly, for example, from a live album. But is there any way to achieve this with tracks from an .m3u playlist? Merry Christmas. Jim. RE: Gapless playback from .m3u file? - simoncn - 18-12-2017 12:17 This sounds like an issue with your control point. MinimServer doesn't treat files served from a playlist any differently than files served from a album container. Which control point are you using? RE: Gapless playback from .m3u file? - JimR - 18-12-2017 15:27 Hi Simon, Thanks for trying to help. I use Linn Kazoo on an iPad. Jim. RE: Gapless playback from .m3u file? - JimR - 18-12-2017 16:18 Hi Simon, Thanks for trying to help. I use Linn Kazoo on an iPad. Jim. RE: Gapless playback from .m3u file? - simoncn - 18-12-2017 23:58 I tried this with the same setup (Linn DS, Kazoo) and the tracks from the .m3u playlist were played without any gaps. RE: Gapless playback from .m3u file? - JimR - 19-12-2017 16:23 Thanks for taking the time to look at this. Perhaps there is a second or two of silence at the beginning or end of some of my files? Will investigate. Jim. RE: Gapless playback from .m3u file? - simoncn - 19-12-2017 17:12 This would be normal for most songs. For some reason, this appears more noticeable when the next song is something different from what you are expecting will follow. RE: Gapless playback from .m3u file? - JimR - 28-12-2017 09:57 You are right. Most of the tracks on my playlist have a second or two of silence at the end. So, I have done the following: - Created a new copy each file in a new folder. - Used Mp3Tag to tag them as belonging to a new fictitious album. - Redone the playlist to point to these copies instead of the originals. - Used Audacity to chop the silence off the end of each file. All I need now is another party. Roll on New Year's Eve. Thanks for your help. Jim. |
